Build #27 red and white 55, full body restoration.

The longer piece is actually curved at the end which was tough tondo because it's bent. I made it in two pieces then tig welded them together. Used the English wheel and planishing hammer, shrinker and stretcher on these.

What piece are we looking at here?

These are pieces that go above the rear quarter glass and the gutter welds onto it. Only place you can see it is above the quarter glass and below the gutter. Most of it is buried.

Did Toyota used to see replacement quarters for collision repair back in the day?

Everything is in the bed of my Tundra here. It is now with the sand blaster. Doors, roof, quarters and fenders are still here though. Off to Cruise Moab Wednesday so hopefully when we get back it will all be ready for pickup.

Putting this all back together again will be amazing to watch!

Kelly sent me a video of some initial reassembly. The pieces go right back over the factory spot welds. I am sure in due course he will post further details of the reassembly.

Not that any part of the reassembly will be trivial. I was just impressed with how the pieces fit together.

We are at nearly 100% disassembled now. That means, every spot weld drilled and all the pieces separated. Even the small brackets. There were a couple parts that have shown minimal rust, but all the other pieces had quite a lot of rust. Most of it was completely hidden because it was happening in the areas where the coating didn't reach. There was so much bare metal behind everything that I stopped showing pictures of it.
