Mine are just shy of 35s on a tape (Duratrac 285/70/17) but who knows, make go to 35s by then.

I'm currently running 315/75/16 KM2's (34.8"), but don't know if they will still be on there by the time 2013/09 rolls around.

you sure you got the size right... duratrac doesn't even list those? Regardless it sounds like you guys are both rolling on 35's nominal so that is what I will shoot for. Although tires will likely be the last purchase I make right before the trip. For now it is going to be 3 link coil suspension up front, disc. brake axles with ARBs, Full floater rear, H41+ Orion, etc. I'm going have to sell a kidney to fund this trip :hillbilly:

Duratrac Specs
285/70R17
121/118Q
D (3195 lbs.)
32.8"

315/75R16
34.6"

or

315/70R17
34.4"

is as close to 35 you'll get. Not many true 35's out there.

They are taller than 33s! I just measured them!

Oh, and I got the quotes back from the major carrier...$2k if we are fully loaded and using a major carrier. PER TRUCK. We need a small guy that would do it for $1k per truck.

subscribed...

Looking to see if our group has any interest in doing the same kind of trip (STLCA).. Seems like anyway you slice it...its going to be $$

Dan,
Maybe try this site out, I used it years ago when looking at shipping a car down from NY, I got the best prices by far here. As this site is usually used by independent contractors to bid on jobs......

anyone in the club got a cdl license? Could rent a truck and trailer, split insurance and away u go. Think i am crazy? Could be a viable alternative!

Ok just got of the phone with the ol man...Looks like we are gonna plan on it. We've been kickin it aronud for a couple years.
JP ...Grand Canyon . Dad and I have never been there. Other than that sounds good.
Dan .. my dad was in shipping for 30 + years ,we'll try and drum up some contacts.

Dan, check with Mike (your brother) on who he used to get the FJ to seattle from here. They were cheaper than others. I think $900 from here to there.

And I am still tentatively in. I need to figure my route and travel out though with me being in Houston and all now.

My route looks like Houston, San Antonio, Juarez, Tucson, Phoenix, Vegas, Reno. 1908 miles. With no convoy and just me, I'll probably want to ship both ways.

Oh, and we have crawfish in Houston!

Ah!!!! Mudbugs good in any state they grow and they do grow nicley in Texas. Hijack over

just another lurker who may yet decide to jump in to this trip. We will see :.....at least it's far enoughf away in time that I can actually plan on the time off, if I decide to do this. :hhmm:

Hey guys, stumbled on your trip here. Sounds awesome.

A few suggestions:
-Check Sac for flights and shipping. Its about 1 hour closer to the trailhead.
- See if you can find an LTL hauler (1-ton pickups usually) for the vehicles. You might get a better deal if you ship both ways somehow (maybe they pickup in Utah again?). Smaller guys won't want to haul out west and deadhead back, you might get a better round trip deal. If they need to kill a week, CA would provide a lot of opportunities.
- Definitely plan on a day after the Rubicon for repairs. Something will break.
-33s are fine, esp with at least one locker but have lots of protection, especially rocker and quarter panel.

Hope it all comes together!
