Looks good to me. cold evening wear/camping gear and hot weather daily wear.

I vote the week of September 16th-22. I can ship my truck the week before and pick her up in Utah, wheel, drive with you all to Cali, and then pack her on a truck to come home and catch a seat on a plane :)

Why do you think we started over a year early? Save up! Totally worth it!

My big issue is timing. I have so much other crap in the air all the time is makes it hard to carve out a week or two to do something purely for me...but damned if I won't try!

Hey guys im a member of onsc and several of us are talking about doing the trip to the rubicon. According to georg at valley hybrids 2013 is the year to go. I believe its an aniversary of some sorts.

Ive looked in to shipping the cruisers out and the chepest i can find is about $1000 per truck one way. Now if your cruiser will fit on a stadard semi carhauler u can get 6 to 8 cruisers on one truck. But height of the cruiser and tire size is the factor there.

Im originally from the sacramento area so if anybody does get there truck shipped i may be able to arrnage someone to take delivery of your cruiser,
.
Just some info i found out.

Rick ,Jp Its all about the funds. I already have a Rubicon fund started....albeit just 100 bucks but thats over a month at 20 bucks a week with a 20 dollar start up fee. I started kickin the idea around at GSMTR last year. Dad wants to see the Grand Canyon. I was gonna try and coincide with Rubithon but I would be game for a different date with a small group on a cross country trip. Ill be 40 in October 2013 and my goal was to run the Rubicon before I turned 40.
Up in the air about GSMTR this year being 10 hrs away and I have a wedding to attend on Saturday.

By all means join up man, it'd be nice to have a convoy going across country.... keep saving those pennies and lets make this happen!!

I'm crazy enough to do this. September 13 in stone? You only live once!

And I am crazy enough to think about driving your old 45 out there.... she is getting ready to get a diesel so fuel wise it would make the most sense. You in the Troopy and me in the LPB would make quite the sight convoying across the country :D

Sounds good to me, my b-day is in Sept.

Good Sounds like we have a solid group of 4-5, now where do we go from here? Lets keep this rolling while we have some momentum

Umm I think the general direction is west

I think locking in the following would help:

- Schedule with specific dates for arrival and departure
- Planned locations to stay (hotel if needed, camp sites if not)
- Routes for drivers, quotes for shippers
- Airfare estimates for shippers

I will handle the route for those of us driving, with camps, departure, arrival, etc. Would you handle the airfare and shipping? Also what day do we want to start the Rubicon trail? I am thinking a Monday would be best that way it shouldn't be crowded. So lets set a target date of Monday the 16th of September to be at the Loon Lake trail head of the Con. Cool??

I am getting stoked now

Sounds good to me! I will see if I can get quotes for shipping and estimated airfare for the Friday before that.

I am also thinking shipping/flying one way may be all I need. Get it out there, Rubicon it, then Moab, then hoof it home in convoy.
