Alright going to take a stab at a basic itinerary here:

9/13(Friday)- Catch an afternoon flight from the ATL to Reno, NV. Find a cheap hotel near the airport for the night.

9/14- Make plans to meet up with car hauler to pick up the vehicles, load up on supplies, grocerys, sort organize gear vehicles, and any other last minute items. Find a good brothel, hotel, or campsite for the night.

9/15- Finish up any last minute items if needed then hit the road for the Camp ground at Loon Lake, start of the Rubicon!! It is roughly a 4hour drive from Reno.

9/16- Start the CON!!
9/17- Still on the CON!!!

9/17- Finish up the CON!! Head east out of S. Lake Tahoe highway 50 "the loniest road in America" to 15 miles east of Austin, NV camp at Spencer Hot Springs in the middle of the desert and hopefully all alone. Check out the site here (Spencer Hot Springs | All Around Nevada) it was the most convienent hot springs I could find to our route. This should be a 5 hour drive from the end of the CON so an easy half days drive.

9/18 Continue on highway 50 to just west of Green River, Utah about an 7 hour drive. Camp for the night in the San Rafael Swell area.

9/19 Explore the San Rafael Swell and Goblin Valley areas

9/20 Head to Moab, should be short 2 hour drive, arrive in town set-up camp and hit some trails in the afternoon!!

9/21 Explore trails around Moab!!
9/22 More Moab!!! Head to Ouray in the evening 3hour drive

9/23 Explore Ouray, Silverton, and Telluride trails!!
9/24 Work our way via 4x4 trails towards Central CO and Tin Cup Pass
9/25 Explore Central CO trails, Red Cone, Italian Pass, etc.

9/26 Head home.... it is a two day trip back to ATL here if you stick to the interstate, I'll be taking back roads in the 45 so I am giving myself a full 3 days to get home.

Okay I welcome comments and conerns, this is a quick attempt and really anything is open once we leave the CON and get to Utah we have endless possibilities

If it is just the three of us I can sign up to provide the hotel for us for free. I have the points.

Cool of you to offer Dan! However I will be bringing my pops along for this trip so 4 grown men will be a bit much in one hotel room :D

On the hotel note, once we leave Reno I plan on trying to camp every night if possible... is that what you guys where thinking??

Fine with me (camping every night)...maybe a night in a hotel on the way to Moab to clean up.

rodger that.... I guess a shower every now and then wouldn't hurt :D

sounds good to me. We camped every night on our first trip west, except two nights in Ouray and one night in Moab (cuz it was July in MOAB).

Cool I will start digging more into detail on the actual routes, I assume you guys would prefer the more off the beaten path stuff to see the scenery and camping "off the grid" so to speak?? Except for when we are in Moab I figured we'd stay in one of the camp grounds in town to use as a base camp for exploring the trails since they are so spread out.

Fine by me JP. Rick, get me your truck info and I should have a good estimate of what it will take to ship one way within a few days.

Some inspirational pics from the first leg of our journey....

Ok I'll be the realist/sense of reason...I think you should schedule a floating day for maintenance on the vehicles...yes I realize that you will have or try to have everything in top shape before you ship them out there...but you never know what may happen in transit, but more importantly what might happen on the back road journeys...ya know if you have no issues before you head back then just use that last day to go over every thing before you head east that way you lessen the possibility of breaking down and being stuck on the side of the road....and if you do break down while you are out there then you already have it scheduled and you can take care of the situation....just the voice of reason...haha

I plan on calling Lexus and Toyota dealers out there and making sure certain spares are in stock.

Good for you however the 45's out of luck. Just my two cents worth. :)

It is JP. We can pull him with a tow strap in his flip flops and he would smile the whole way.

I am my own parts warehouse... I have a back yard full of rotting 40 carcasses to prove it:o

in reality the 45 is getting a newer diesel drivetrain, updated axles and brakes, etc. so hopefully I will be able to source my parts rather easily if needed, but you can bet the bed of the 45 will be filled all kinds hard to find spares

this is true simple minds are easy to please :hillbilly:

Rick & Dan what size tires are you guys running?? I am going to have to upgrade the 32" TSL's on the 45 for this trip. Was doing a lot of reading on the CON and it seems the consensus is that it is doable with 33's but you will drag/ scrap alot. At the moment I am leaning towards BFG 285/75/r17 KM2's on the FJ steelies which makes them essentially 34"x11.5" hopefully that and some ARB's front and rear should do the trip for the CON
