I ran mine there at first and you can get it to reach, but its tight. I moved mine to the rear block drain and its a better location with a better temp reading. I would just block both of those holes on thermo housing.
I finally decided to run all new speaker wire and install a radio in the Cool Cruiser of Texas center console. I initially wanted 62 power antenna but decided on the retro sound amplified antenna than can be mounted under dash etc. I mounted mine behind the drivers sick panel. I took the seats out to make it easier to run wire etc. It came out great. Now I have Bluetooth and handsfree in the 60!
I’m running the Alpine Ute-73, retro sound speakers, and retro sound amplified antenna.
I also order the Lloyd mats. These things are solid and really benefit the truck. This is the light gray. I kinda wish I went with dark, but oh well! Not sure I need new carpet now... even though I know I’ll put some down...eventually.
I already have one of the Lloyd mats in the cargo area, I think I'll order the ones for the front of the cabin as well. Really like how well they are made. From your pics, it looks like the front ones fit very well too.

For people wanting to see this taken to the next level check out @wngrog ole blue thread. He is about to make me spend some money making my setup look prettier....... Him and @FJ60Cam are perfecting this setup!
My pile of parts is a bit bigger. Vacuum advance Davis Unified Distributor, Live Wires and PowerSurge are the main items. OE parts that are a must: Thermostat Housing kit and Head-gasket from @Racer65 OE oil, fuel, PCV, and spark plugs High pressure fuel line and high pressure clamps...
After doing some reading and chatting I’ve realized my dizzy isn’t venting correctly. I eliminate the vsv and should not have. I still have the firewall vent, but capped the other. So, I’ve been back and forth. I have a DUI sitting here that I’ve been going back and forth on installing. So today I went to take the plunge, but realize... I don’t have a locking collar for my DUI. So...I put the DUI on his hooked my recurved dizzy back up and added a vcv. If you are keeping your dizzy with the sniper make sure you keep your vcv. After I installed it I’m all but sold now on DUI because of extra lines. Half the reason I did sniper swap is I hate vacuum line spaghetti.... however this truck is running good and that’s hard to mess with... so we will see!
Also after a charcoal canister lesson from @wngrog I installed a GM purge valve inline with my canister before I dump it into my intake/sniper. The way I have my canister ran I am pulling fumes into my intake all the time. Installing this purge valve and tapping into your advance vacuum line on distributor will on allow you to pull fumes when advanced. I hope I’m reciting all of this correctly..... here is the acdelco part number and the standard number orileys found. It can also be order from amazon.
I do not have this purge valve added to my canister either. What is the problem with keeping it how it was, or rather the benefit to pulling vapor under advance? I am going to add this if its needed.

A little bit of Delco Charcoal Canister tech for y’all.
The factory canister when hooked up to the factory system had a purge valve that only operated it under vacuum advance.
It did not allow the truck to pull vacuum at idle and put raw fumes into the base of your carburetor at idle.
The Delco has no provision for that.
If you add this doo dad in line to your vacuum source and then put a hose from the small port into a T on your distributor vacuum advance hose, you will only pull vacuum and fumes during acceleration.
Because, we all love projects! Thanks for the explanation. I recall removing the solenoid mounted to the original canister. I kept it but I'm betting it wont work correctly with the Delco. I'm gonna pick one up and plumb it in.
