On my AFI a couple years ago, yes. I used a PowerSurge on my Sniper in my Pig and just put one on my FJ60.

You are all in now .... I was being a smartass
😁🤪 I'm grateful that there are options, but our money and commitment to these rigs... Just hoping that somebody in the future will gleen the best option for their FJ 60 when they do the same. Hope I'm not pissing my efforts into the wind, I have doubts about the longevity of the Sniper unit. Unlike our Land Cruisers, I see no way to do repairs or maintenance on these EFI units. Time will tell if it was worth it.

Gotta trust some things. Longevity be damned. Drivability now. That’s the thing. So nice. If you get too nervous buy a spare.
I agree. The drive ability is to good not to switch. The power surge is legit too.

I agree with you on the questionability of the sniper. I have had the same concerns. After a TON of research, the 60 does not get anywhere as hot as a Big Block with long tube headers and people put these on them without issues and race down a track. No the unit is not over the exhaust directly, but then it is over the entire engine and heat rises.

My LS swap is on hold due to a head issue (PO drilled a exhaust manifold stud through a water jacket). So I plan to use the time to install EFI onto the 2F using a Surge tank system. I am not concerned with heat.

Getting a little time on the 60 this weekend. It got a new set of OEM euro mirrors from city racer. Then my oil pressure gauge has never read higher than the first hash. I’ve manually checked pressure with gauge and it was great. I added a new sender on an order with cruiser Corp and now my gauge is nice and solid. Pic is at idle. Currently in the process of installing a dui so more updates coming soon.

So as promised. I’ve had a DUI and a set of their live wires laying around. So I figured I’d drop it in and see how it runs. After adding back in a vcv and more vac lines I liked the idea of the DUI more and more. I took to ripping everything out and marked my position of rotor and wires on cap. Getting the DUI in place takes some wiggling. I know @wngrog had some issue have enough room for advancing timing on his. I found that if you unbolt your upper and lower cooling pipes your able to get everything in and cap on. I left everything undone till I had timing set. This was a huge help! Once it was all done I was able to get pipes bolted back in. I also ditched my large oil filter because it was in the way as well. So I added a small Toyota filter. However now everything’s in place I think my larger filter will go back on with no issues. I picked up a HEI tac battery connector from orileys and that really helped with my wiring. Switched twelve to battery side sniper tac and factory tac to other side. After I made sure all my connections were good I soldered them up, added some heat shrink, then some wiring loom and called it good. Overall she’s running great, but I need to put some miles down.

Yes the blue cap is hideous...I’ll be replacing it with a black one....

I’ve decided I want to add a snorkel on my rig. I’ve been back and forth and finally started pulling the trigger on some items. I found a sweet non US air cleaner setup with 2f carb topper here on mud. The carb topper is very cool because it bolts right into your valve cover. I then had @FJ60Cam order my safari snorkel and it was time to get to work getting the rig ready. After ripping my air cleaner off I got to work cleaning up my valve cover with some degreaser wipes I found at auto zone. They worked great. I snagged an air cleaner adapter from Mosley Motors for the Holley sniper and was able to get the 2f carb topper to work, but had to use a factory air cleaner gasket and make another gasket from 1/8” runner to give me enough height. The plan is to maybe use two oem gaskets because the 2f carb topper approaches the sniper adapter at an angle and will not sit flush. The passenger side of the topper is higher. However, my gasket seems to work fine. I snagged some arb hose from @wngrog and it looks good, but I posted on a thread from 2010 asking about the OEM hose and happened to find someone with an OEM NOS hose for this setup.. yes it’s one the way! Thanks @mattressking for dipping into your stash. I found a hose for my valve cover breather to 2f carb topper and now we wait for the snorkel and oem hose setup!

So I’ve neglected a few updates. The DUI i installed ran like crap. I picked it up through Mud and apparently it wasn’t good. It will idle, but anything over 2k rpms and it loses it. Spits sputters and backfires. Reached out to guy I bought it from and he now tells me he just pulled it never ran it...? Offered to give me my money back and I told him I’d check it out and see...hasn’t responded since. So, I ended up just buying a new D.U.I. with a new set of live wires. With a little help via text from @wngrog i got it top dead center and dropped the new one in. I also learned that electronic distributor doesn’t care where is points as long as you make that number 1 and get your order correct after. After this it’s running as good as my jimc dizzy but with less wires... took it on a couple hour shake down on the trace and it ran great! When I came back I finally adjusted my iac per the sniper manual and now I’m around 6-8 when before I was 15 plus.

After I wrapped up the D.U.I. I decided to install a constant 12volt in the rear of my center console. This will give me a place to run my arb fridge and give my USB ports to charge in truck is off. It’s an amazon special but I like having the power switch, voltage monitor and two usbs. Came out pretty clean.

Now the big one.... @FJ60Cam and Mosley Motors hooked me up with a Safari Snorkel to take advantage of this air box I bought! It’s always nerve racking to cut on such a clean truck....however, it happened and turned out great. Pretty straight forward install. I don’t ha e the best pictures of it installed. So I’ll get some better shots later.

I’ve been holding onto this battery mounted fuse box I bought for my 80, but never installed. I figured why not throw it in my 60 and clean up the battery some. One thing I discovered is I needed some maxi and midi fuses. Most of the stuff I’ll run won’t need the amps of a maxi fuse. 30 being the smallest,so I’ll figure I’ll just run and in-line fuse plus maxi. Don’t think it will be an issue. Turned out well and I’ll have plenty of free slots if needed. I only found this box in Europe after searching a long time for something like this. So I added a link.

Looking good!!! I want to do the DUI and IAC adjustment too. Maybe before Crawl...

Apparently I missed the IAC adjustment as part of the initial setup! Ran fine however dialing it in more doesnt hurt.

You do AIC during setup. Don’t wait to do it. It takes about 5 minutes.

My only tip is make 1/4 turn adjustments

Some questions. Why the DUI?. What is it you gain other than it is new. Back when GM used HEI, they were quite unreliable.

I've got my 60 just waiting for me to resurrect the old girl. Can you tell me why a Sniper and not a 2FE? I would think the 2FE solution would be a better setup. But then again, I am no expert.

Has anyone dynoed a Sniper setup?
