My pile of parts is a bit bigger.

Vacuum advance Davis Unified Distributor, Live Wires and PowerSurge are the main items.

OE parts that are a must:

Thermostat Housing kit and Head-gasket from @Racer65

OE oil, fuel, PCV, and spark plugs

High pressure fuel line and high pressure clamps. New fuel pump and of course, a Remflex exhaust gasket.

EDIT I have since stopped using the PowerSurge systems due to reliability issues

One of the main reasons I’m going down this road to redemption on Ole Blue is an annoying issue I was having with a hiccup under low throttle.

I’m not 100% sure what it was but it felt like a fuel pump starvation issue.

Ive had so much good luck with my PowerSurge fuel pump on my FJ55 I wanted to get another.

Basically this thing allows you to keep your stock reliable fuel pump and clear low pressure Toyota fuel filter to feed the high pressure fuel pump the Sniper requires all in one tight and quiet package.

These things make no noise. I love that. Also it keeps my reliable stock fuel system intact. No dropping the tank. No pump singing to me from the frame.

For some reason, they only send two fittings with this pump. I’m sure they found that everyone uses different size lines so pick your own is best.

For my Pig I purchased fancy AN stuff but ended up swapping it out for brass fittings for
Better packaging

They provide the R2 90* and I bought a 1/8” fitting for the 5/16” factory return hose. (Blue)

They provide 90* at the fuel input. I purchased a 1/4” with 3/8” barb end for fuel input. (Red)

The Out and Return from the Sniper use 3/8” hose with 3/8” thread. (Yellow)

Low tech simple fittings available at the hardware store.

For people like me that can’t picture stuff without a picture, this is what the PowerSurge looks like hooked up on my Pig

VERY nice.
I am wondering about the "slick metal air cleaner adapter"... I used the Mr Gasket and it is a symmetrical adapter... how does this "offset" design align?

He does both style depending on your air cleaner. Some OEM style are offset and some are straight up. My 60 needs the offset put my FJ55 with OE 77 air cleaner on the late 2F needs centered.

I added some Rivnuts and tested the clearance for the PowerSurge. This is a great spot. The bottom of the bracket rests on the fender so it’s fully supported.

Jerry came up and lended 3/4 of a hand to get the head set. This is a scary job to do in the truck. My cherry picker barely reached in with the front bumper on.

We spent most of the afternoon after eating whopper Flamethrower burgers at the Blue Rooster attaching the rocker assembly and adjusting the valves. Now it’s all one-man stuff hooking things back up.

The throttle butterflies in the Sniper are offset in the air cleaner base (but sit directly over the intake opening). If you use a centered adapter, you have to put the air cleaner on crooked to line it up or make new brackets. This just aligns the air cleaner back to the stock bolt-in position and keeps the air flowing in a straight path.

Got to spend a couple hours on it this morning. I stole the intake that was on it during my last work up on my FJ40 Project Patina. The F intake on my 2F there had been a vacuum leaking mess so I stole my known good intake from Blue

That left me hunting for a good intake. Luckily Cam had a parts motor at his shop. This intake was really gross. Cam knocked off the first 80% and I had to get the rest down to aluminum.

1/2 hour with the 3.5” grinder and wire wheel

I had a Cruiser Outfitters block off plate in stock. I added it as insurance in case I develop a crack along the way. Mainly because I hate all those empty holes.

Cutting down the EGR tube for PCV is another job. You can buy a block off plate from Man a Fre with a spot for PCV elbow but this was available and an easy mod

Gross

Less gross and trimmed down. You can cut tube going into the intake down too.

Then grab a bolt that fits right and JB or real weld it in

Set in the header. Intake. Remflex gasket and tighten to only 25#

The bolts and such are part of Cam’s Sniper Kit.

Couple of tips.

Make sure these Allen bolts are flush at the top of the adapter. The rear two were but the front two needed some grinding.

Also, this tube gets in the way of the throttle plate on the sniper.

You will need to turn it or do as I do and lop it off and put a vacuum cap on it. This is only if you have a PCV Port in your intake like I showed above.

This is all installed. I use a bit of Indian Head along the gaskets and bolts.

Also, the back two bolts go into the intake and can be a vacuum leak source so I fill this holes with RTV

Lots and lots done this afternoon.

DUI dropped in. Another lesson in Top Dead Center and lining up a Dissy. I over thought that but in the process realized I did the valves wrong. They are correct now I hope because getting the valve cover off a FJ60 is a bitch

Live Wires
Delco Vacuum added
Vacuum line run
OE Fuel Pump and OE clear filter (which I love)
Changed the oil and replaced Big OE filter

Drivers Side.

PowerSurge OE return 5/16” line installed along the driver fender across firewall into stock return hard line

Hard line feed from fuel pump and around front of head to PowerSurge. Heat shield.

All that is left to do is pop the Sniper in place, wire it up and turn the key.

Hopefully on Wednesday

Stay tuned

Got the wiring done today. So stupid easy.

Fuel lines run and heat shielded.

Is this the stock tachometer wire on a FJ60? I need to tap my OE tachometer into the DUI. The main yellow wire for The sniper goes in the Tach position.

If you do everything correct and cycle the key, the screen lights up. That’s when you know you are in business

I have a few issues to sort out.

Still need to loom the Dissy wires across the firewall.

My throttle cable is not right. Not only did the plastic tip inside break but the arm it’s attached to (stock hand throttle bracket) won’t stay tight. May need to pull it all out and rack weld that and install the tip supplied with the Lokar

I think I have My distributor one tooth off. I I get it to the line at zero on the timing light I’m st 1250 rpm and I’m hitting the oil filter with the vacuum advance pod on Dissy

I’m close!!
