Be careful...my EFI project turned into a Manfrey Ceramic Header + manifold project 🤣😀😃😀😂😀😂

I think I'm going to go with a frame rail mounted fuel pump. Even though I bought the pump from Cam I'm not sure I have the stomach for dropping the tank and going through all that is necessary to install it in-tank.
I'm also not up for the surge tank option.
I'll read back through this thread but can anyone sum up the consensus on a frame rail mounted fuel pump for this sniper setup?

Not sure which 1 did...but, it's working out nicely!!!

The frame mounted pumps work great. @wngrog has been running one on his AFI system with no issues for a couple years maybe. I know if several guys running them in non-Toyota rigs and have zero issues.

The in tank pump is cool now it’s done. Would I do it again... no... complete pain in the ass. The surge pump is looking like the less labor intensive setup at the moment and can’t wait to hear some feed back once everyone has some miles on them.

A couple weekends ago @s0me0ldt0ys and Toyota of Brookhaven held a really cool coffee and cruiser event. Grabbed my son the 60 and took off. Every time I drive this truck it just runs better and better. I set the mileage clock so I can check some mpgs when I fill up next.

Side bar: if anyone local to MS is interested in my rack let me know. ARB alloy $800 not shipping. Going Front Runner on allnof my rigs.

With my setup I want to run a hand throttle. I used the rod to adapt my pedal to the tbi so that left my hand throttle bracket free on my pedal. I currently have two hand throttles both different lengths. Neither are the correct length I need. I believe my pedal angle changed slightly having a rod setup. Does anyone know an easy way to extend or shorted a throttle cable?

What’s the purpose of hand throttles, if there’s no pto accessories? Or do you have other plans?

Side note no idea how to lengthen or extend. My only though would be to treat like the universal cables. Cut cable and sheath then run the little threaded barrel on the end.

Two data points on the external pumps:

I used the external pump that came with the Sniper kit on the Delta Beast build, with great results. Runs great, pump is silent. Plumbed with all new 3/8 fuel injection hose throughout.

The 12-920 fuel kit had a Walbro pump in it, which should be this one:

I did a another install a few months later using the Sniper kit w/included fuel pump and they changed the supplied pump to an MSD branded pump.

That one was plumbed into the factory FJ60 hardlines with AN compression fittings and a Corvette filter/pressure regulator which sends the return back to the tank and only a single supply line to the Sniper.

That pump was noisy. Truck ran great.

Dudddddde...where'd ya get that center console??? Sweet AF!

That console is a CCOT. Love mine.
i think the handle would annoy the s*** outta me... i basically have a "wood box" console...but, a lil more hi tech...i think what i love most about that CCOT console is the cushion on top :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

This is my first build thread so give me a break on how bad this is going to be...

Most people don't want to read so...Yes, the Holley 2300 2bbl Sniper is awesome (200 plus miles on setup), yes it works on a 2f, yes its a straight forward install, yes I am running stock dizzy and figured out how to get the factory air cleaner to work, it has a kick ass LCD screen that you can tune it how you want or use learn mode...keep reading if you need more details.

I picked this rig up because it is one of the cleanest 60's I've seen. 2 owner truck out of cali with 133k on the clock with zero rust. When I picked it up it had a desmogged City Racer Carb on a fully smoked truck. It just didn't work right. So, I decided right away on a complete desmog. I assembled the parts and started on a desmogged. As I was waiting on parts I am looking at EFI 60s at our local club meetings (all running the AFI setup) and my father is hammering me about throwing a Holley Sniper on it because he hates carbs, but he is an old school Chevy guy. I got my deems turn took one drive around the block on the carb and almost instantly decided on an EFI setup.

So, i start researching AFI, Holley Sniper, and other EFI setups. It looked like only 1 mudder threw a Holley Sniper on a 2f in the 40 section and seemed to be having great result. Shot him a message and he had great things to say. After the research I found AFI is a great setup, but starts to add up when you get Distributor and then it is an old chevy ECU that is flashed for the 2f. It also has an ecu that has to be ran a lot with a good bit of wiring to get all sensors and everything hooked up. The sniper on the other hand has everything built into the TBI, along with the MAP, Fuel reg, and TPC. Basically everything is housed in the EFI unit, minus the o2 sensor and the temp sensor. Pretty simple wiring too--- positive to battery, ground to battery, switched 12 volt, fuel pump wire, and then tach wire. Then you also have the LCD control module wire coming out of the back it. My mind was made up Holley EFI here I come.

Parts List:

1) Holley Sniper 2300 EFI Kit (Do not buy the kit with fuel lines and pump etc. I did--- Save your money and piece a fuel it together. The fuel lines and fittings are 3/8s with 8AN fittings and everything on the 60 requires 5/16 fuel line with 6AN fittings)

Holley Sniper EFI 550-849 Holley Sniper EFI 2300 Self-Tuning Kit - Shiny Finish

2) Downey Holley 2300 Carb adapter Plate, I also got his throttle cable kit but didn't use it.

3) Header, I believe I order a JT outfitters, but their website is down.

8) Intank Fuel Pump with rubber gasket that @FJ60Cam talked me into, but I am glad he did!! Need LS pump because Sniper runs a higher pressure vs AFI. Get aviation gasket sealer or permitted Fuel gasket sealer.

thank you for putting this together i wish i had found this first but my research lead me to the sniper as a best option for my 60.
question is desmogging absolutely necessary?

Interesting question. Im assuming as long as you get all the vacuum hooked back up you could technically keep it but why?

Cam: are you saying the 12-920 kit's pump is really the Walbro GSL391? If so it is $100 cheaper and comes with 6an fittings...?

If all of this is correct... what an compression fitting did you use to go from the Walbro to the factory hard lines?

Cam: is there a specific Corvette regulator/filter? I think I'm going to copy your set-up and, as always, specifics help when trying to copy!

I used the factory return line on mine with simple fuel injection clamps and fuel injection hose.
