Took it for a drive. It rides surprisingly good for having the full leaf pack in the rear.

Steering is nice and tight which I have been crossing my fingers to know.

It’s got a few immediate things I would like to address here then I’m hoping for another drive.

The weather is superb today but it’s about to go to s*** here tomorrow and second winter is about to hit. That’s making me want to really ride it some today.

The Lokar cables I use have a very low tolerance for heat. I clamped this one to the manifold thinking that would be a safe distance from the header.

That was not far enough. The throttle started
Sticking and I knew I got it too hot.

Luckily I had a spare sleeve here.

Problem is, once you cut one of these cables they fray terribly. If you twist it back and try to get it back into the new sleeve it’s really hard to do

I finally found a solution. Teflon tape.

It’s back on and way out of the way now

I have soldered that section I want to cut before cutting to hold the strands together. Seems to work, probably isn’t right.

Love milwaukee tools. We have some corded milwalkee tools that have been going strong since 1990.

On the cable…..yeah, I never take the cable out again once I cut it but knowing there is at least a small chance I might have to one day the heat shrink is a great idea. Whatever it is it can only be a frog hair bigger than the cable or it won’t feed back in the sheath. I just ordered a couple to keep handy. They used to be $50 now they are $89. I’m not good with math but that looks like more than 7% inflation.

Also……shipping Monday 😬😬😬😬

Odds and ends.

The rear 45 shackle is the same as a 60 series. They seem to think it’s something different and my shackles have been back ordered. I had Jason send me a pair of 60 shackles so that’s all swapped out.

Classic sent me a properly fitting clutch cover. It’s powdered and installed

I got the steering wheel mostly straight with the drag link adjust

I also had forgotten to hook up the rear lights. I’m happy to say they work great. Stop. Run. Turn.

Now I’m trying to make the heater switch talk to the blower. I’m going to have to rewire it. Fan works. Switch works. Something in between us not talking. I’m just going to rerun a wire direct.

Got the blower working. It does not take much to warm a 45 interior down here but I’m sure Michigan is a different story.

SOR defrost elbows.

SOR chain anti rattle covers

I also added the VIN and “brass tag” back to the truck. I moved it to the firewall since it’s hidden if it’s on the fender

I also lined up my glass guy for next week to put the new rubbers on the glass.

I found a real nice rebuilt 8274. Old style control box that will go nicely with the old/new look this truck has. It was about a 6 hour round trip but Ole Blue ate it up. I’ve not driven the 60 since I blew up the rear shaft so it needed a good run.

I met my buddy Mike for a burger.

10 mpg is the name of the game with Blue. Glad I have the LRA tank

It warmed up enough for me to take a short spin in LPBlue when I got home.

It’s still learning but it really runs and drives very good. I’m looking forward to getting the top and doors on for some longer drives.

Finished up Powda Blue. Put about 50 miles on it and called the owner to come get it.

Then I loaded up LPBlues hard top to take it to the glass shop tomorrow

With plenty of time left in the day I went for another nice long drive in LPBlue
