One question on the cruise control if someone knows the answer? Light green wire "G" that I mentioned in the prevous post. It says it goes to the Neutral saftey switch, I understand that. Are you supposed to run that wire to ground or supply the NSS with 12 volts and energize the wire in event in goes into Neutral? Question is bascily, run it to ground or power it up?

Thanks, Matt

Normally, neutral safety switches have ground going to them and ground coming out when the shifter is put into neutral.
The instructions do not say if the green wire is looking for a ground or a + signal to shut the cruise down, but I would assume it would be -.

On the brake lines, you guys are right, I should at least give them the benifit of the doubt on making it right. I'll probably email them tomorrow and politely mention my problems, but I won't mention this thread though, I think that's irrelevent. Shouldn't matter if people are watching or not? I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks, Matt

You're right. It shouldn't matter. And I would be upset also. When I buy a product like that, I expect it to bolt right in, with little-to-no 'finessing' for fitment. FYI I was able to use FJ60 lines on my 45 pick-up and they lined up better than those.

I believe Waggoner is correct. Both of my Nissans work that way. The Xterra (Auto trans) park switch grounds itself in Park. The 5 speed manual Pathfinder grounds when the clutch is pressed. I would wire the NSS to ground itself when actuated. If it does not work you have not damaged anything and can always switch it to provide +12V. But if you wire it for +12V first and the controller is expecting ground you may smoke it! A quick phone call to the maker would answer your question for sure.

Got about 3.5 hours on the lv tonight.

Nothing glamorous. Ran over both fenders with the DA and 80 grit, prepping them for primer. Shot a coat of epoxy primer first on the fenders and then 2 coats of ureathane primer for block sanding tomorrow. I think they will probably take 2 more coats of primer after that and then blocked out again, but should be good to go after that.

Went over the inside of the hood with 180 and the DA, shot a couple coats of ureathane primer on the inside. Also went over the aprons with the block and 80, 2 coats of ureathane on those also.

I have to drill the holes in the hood tomorrow for the spray nozzles, also would like to go over the inside with 220 and then one more coat of epoxy. Need to drill the holes for the emblems in the aprons. Probablly block those out with 180 and see how they look, might be fine after that or might need 2 more coats and blocked out to 220, we'll see?

Drilling holes in the hood makes me fall over and cry....:crybaby:

What about OEM Nozzle in the center??? Just like your 40?

:bounce: :bounce2:

Also called Global Cruise control today. Light green wire, "G" that goes to the NSS switch........goes to ground.

You guys were right ;)

Thanks, Matt

I think I was the last one to see that it has a split hood,..

I am a Dumb :censor:

I got nothing....................................

Matt,

You want a set of my Stainless Steel hood protecters for under the hood corners? 83 and 84 FJ40's had them standard. Kinda cool and keeps the cussions from rubbing through the paint.

Got a pic? Post it here if you want, never seen those before? Sounds like a good idea.

Thanks, Matt

Damn man, blocked the inside of the hood. You are a perfectionist. I love it. :D

This thing is freaking sweet. Keep up the good work. I can only hope to be able to do this to my pig one day.

The first pic has the plastic covering on them to keep nice. The second I peeled it back so you can see the "BlinG"

They pop riveted on from the factory.

It's a real toss-up. Which is better, here...the actual build, or the awesome writeup being provided?

Pretty good day on the lv today. Got out of work around 5 so I could get going on this. Temp wise it was awesome so I moved some of my parts outside so I could work in the sun :)

Blocked out the hood first, went fast. Had to drill the 2 holes in for the spray nozzles and then notch each side of the hole with a file. I had the OEM measurements from a 68-71 hood, decided to do my own thing. The nozzles are from an 80 series cruiser, looks pretty much the same as the nozzle on my 77 FJ40. The nozzle on my 40 is centered and 11 inches back from the hood edge. I went 10" back and 10" from the center..... I don't know why, just seemed right and looked like it will work, I'll let you know when I start spraying.

Blocked out my aprons with 220 also, then had to drill the holes in them for the emblems, all good.

Fenders, hit those with 80 grit and the DA again because of some deep scratches on the inner fender well. They look extremely good now.

Everything got hung up again and sprayed with 2 coats of epoxy primer. The hood and aprons are ready for paint. The fenders are going to have to be blocked out with 220 tomorrow, but that should be it for sanding fenders. I plan on shooting a coat of epoxy over the top after I block them out and then they are ready for paint.

I'm thinking I probably will start spraying that SEM tinted bedliner sauce on the bottom of the fenders Thursday night. I have about a half gallon left out of the 2 gallons I initially ordered, gallon and a half went on the bottom of the lv.

Thinking I should be spraying color on everything else by Friday, if everything goes right ;) I would love to start bolting the front clip back on Saturday or Sunday, probably start haning doors and tailgate stuff next weekend also.

My wife's '82 FJ40 had those stainless pieces riveted on. I thought they were aftermarket cause none of my earlier 40s had them.
