Stunning.

I would just upgrade to the newer style hood hinges.

Stay old school on the hinges!!!! Love the somewhat money saving ,keep the damn thing together and do a refresh! Everyone thinks you need to tear down to bare bones, this is a great example of a refresh without major teardown. It’s even more noteworthy if your going to actually use and abuse the rig as intended!!! Epic build old man!!

Thank you sir.

Now, what do I use for pins?

It’s kind of funny to say this...but I just finished the last 20 minutes or so catching up on my truck. The last week has been kind of crazy for me and....while I have been receiving photos and updates....it just kind of went in one ear and out the other. Now I am able to focus and I’m just blown away at how far things have come in such a short time. It really is crazy to think that this truck is about to start getting put back together. Now I have to get over and see it in person. Already looking for a nice weather day for a flight over.

@whitey45 thank you for the kind words! Definitely put a lot of thought into this one. Also got a lot of ideas for the other 45. @wngrog has actually done a great job of keeping me in check. I wanted to go frame off on the truck and he said it wasn’t necessary. After today I definitely agree. We will save the frame off stuff for the other one.

What are black (rubber?) things for on the rear sill?

Don't expect my wood work to be anything like my mechanical ability. Ih8wood!
I went to town today to see if I could find a decent pallet for this stuff to ship. I couldn't find anything that I felt comfortable putting this nice of stuff on so I grabbed a super long skinny pallet. I got it all chopped up and building a crate.

This ain't cool Land Cruiser parts but it's all part of getting all this stuff together to make one bad ass 45!

That’s funny, I have always preferred nuts and bolts and steel to wood! Only good thing about wood is you don’t need a plasma to cut it! I have been venturing out with some decks, treehouse, fencing, but still don’t like it as much as burning some steel together!

Steel is so much easier to work with. Wood moves just cause it's dry or humid. I personally like tight tolerance and perfect joints. Which is totally doable with wood if your into that sort of thing 😉

Since his retirement, my father has been getting into machining with a benchtop lathe and mill. Years ago he moved his woodworking equipment over to my shop to give it more room for use. So now he's asking me to cut various pieces for him and giving me measurements of x/32 and x/64... Fortunately he's not asking for measurements to the thou...

I keep trying to tell him the wood is likely going to move 1/8" or more through the seasons!
