I just pulled the front differential on my 1995 hzj75 as I have a leaking seal.
But now I see these little flakes on some of the edges of the ring gear and pinion gear....
There is also some very fine metal shavings stuck on some parts and there were fine metal dust on drain plug magnet...
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this possible leak that I have somewhere on my rear axle on my 2015 LX570 w/ 111,230 on the ODO. I went back to work yesterday after being off work for the past 5 days. During my 5 day off stretch, I have been consistently driving around like crazy in my LX570...
Here’s another thread to rile some of the guys up haha
I knew this was going to happen at some point from my young mischievous behavior, but this last weekend I had gotten a horrible clunking sound after peeling out for a photoshoot. At first I thought it was the transmission, until I started...
EDIT: Figured it all out and posting pix for future reference.
Changing the bearings and seals on my 1983 semi-float rear axle (on a truck that sat for 14 years). Before putting everything back together, wanted to ask those who've been here before if everything looks OK. Didn't have any issues...
Yesterday, I spent the whole day at the mechanic's shop to reseal the front differential. I even provided genuine paper gasket to the mechanic and the mechanic also used silicon, but it still didn't fix the problem. The next morning, there were still tiny drops of oil leaking from the front...
I want to rebuild the 7.5 inch differential, F302, in my 83 pickup, 22R, 1/2 ton, 2WD.
I’m looking for information on the SST 09530-30012, Differential Drive Pinion Adjusting Gauge.
I know there are other ways to set the pinion depth, but for now I’m hoping to find out whatever I can about...
See video below. 2004 LX470 w/ 250k miles. I'm trying to figure out my drivetrain clunk issue. The truck had the CV axles replaced by the dealer within the last couple of years, and I recently replaced the front diff bushings. This clunk is present both in the R-N-D shift and on in decel/accel...
I just got my front right knuckle cleaned up to rebuild it. Took longer than inspected due to rock hard gaskets that needed to be scraped and stubborn brake lines. I also still can’t hammer out my wheel studs so I can replace the rotors, but that’s another story and I may have to find a buddy...
Guys,
I have a 04 LC FSM and below is what I extracted from it. Doing the diff and transfer case oil service in few days. Hopefully torque specs are good for 06 as well. But let me know.
Transfer Case Protector - 3 Bolts - Torque: 28 N·m
75W-90 (Mobile 1 Synthetic)
1.3 Liters - 1.4 US Qts...
I am thinking about adding a locking diff to the rear of my FJ40. This is an area I am not well versed in….Read several pages of threads about the Air Lockers and Aussie Lockers. I am looking for a little guidance from this viewpoint.
I don’t use the FJ40 as a daily driver but occasionally...
Up for sale is a 100 Series front diff with 4.30 gears. It’s suspected of having a bad pinion bearing (I bought it as a spare for Cruisers on the Rocks)
Great candidate for a regear or rebuild
Asking $300 but willing to negotiate
I can ship the 3rd member if you’re willing to pay for it. I’d...
I have a 1980 FJ40, and ordered some shims and u-bolts from cruiser brothers. 3 of them look just right, but of course the one that rides on the diff is different than the others.
My issue is that the diff u-bolt that was sent is squared off, not rounded like the one that is currently on there...
I have oil leaking from the rear differential inspection cover gasket (minor leakage) on the outside of the Axle housing Carrier gasket on the inside of the Axle housing.
My question is whether these gaskets can be replaced without tear-down and removal of the Pumpkin and axle shafts? All...
Hi All,
I'm new to this! I need some advice or a simple answer to my question. I own a 2005 HDJ100 with 440 000km. My front diff is shot and I'm not going to put a brand new one in because I can't afford it! I've been search for the last 6 and have just found one from a 2003 model. Both models...
Hi,
On offer is SST09530-35010, differential pinion depth adjusting gauge. The link to another mud members post explains how the tool is used very well.

Hi All,
I dont do off-roading and also have not used DIFF LOCK feature much. My 4WD gear setting is also on H as normal, never changed. Toyota changed diff and transfer case oil about 5 years ago. Might do it again this year.
Few weeks back i locked the diff while in parking and started...
1986 hj75 troopy wreck. Beginning to approach differential study. What would cause these sorts of scars on the crown wheel please? The scars run most way round.
I think it needs at least a new crown and bearings, seal? I imagine pinions are replaced the same time as crowns, they seem to...
