I found a little hack for getting the rear shoes for the parking brake on. I know it's a huge pain in the butt when you take them off, but I came up with a way and I had never seen anybody do it so I figured I would post it just in case. Hopefully it helps somebody else out in the future...
As I wrap up my Parking Brake rebuild on my 75 FJ40, I am trying to figure out the Parking Brake Switch circuit. The switch works fine. I have it operating correctly (based on my multimeter) when the brake is set and released. The problem is with the ignition on and the brake set, the brake...
Wanted to jump in and say hello now that I'm part of the 100-club errr, umm... the LX470 club. Just picked up this beauty, a 1999 LX470 from Southern California. Has around 283k, but with records of an engine swap/rebuild about 20k miles ago (donor engine allegedly had 120k miles on it). OME...

Comes with a Molded Handle, Spring, and Knob
On my newly acquired FJ62, the brake pedal goes pretty much straight to the floor and there is almost no stopping power. With the car off, the pedal is pretty firm, but as soon as you start the car, the pedal goes to the floor.
I bled the brakes twice using the old fashioned (pump, pump, hold)...
Hi All
So I'm slowing working my way through baselining my 400,000km 99 LX470 and I'm now at the brakes.
I considered getting braided SS lines but compared to the price I can pick up factory lines I just can't justify it. I'm sure they're better but I cant see there being much flex in brand...
A strange one! When I press the brake peddle the left turn indicator lights. In this condition none of the outside lights go on. If I then activate the turn signal, either left or right it goes away and the proper turn indicator flashes. I have all LED lights installed with new LED flasher...
Up for sale is my 80 series brake booster for '93 to '97 80s and 450s...I picked this up from City Racer as I thought I was having a booster failure problem. Turns out that I had a loose front wheel bearing that was the problem, so I never installed the booster as my problem was solved. Comes...
Hi team,
this afternoon I explored one of our local backcountry valleys - of course there is a stream in it and the track crosses it many times. I would not call it fording , today it was up to the hubs at the deeper parts.
Enough to give the underbody a wash and definitely totally wet all the...
As I inspect and adjust my brakes I see a discrepancy. Do the shoe return springs go both under or one under and one over the shoe? My manual possibly indicates the rear spring is under and the front is over.
A youtube video shows one over one under.
The last guy put both of the springs...
I took a video of the issue I experienced (see video) this week with my 2005 LX470.
I turned on the truck to move out of the garage and while it was warming up I randomly decided to pump the brakes. After about 10-12 pumps the ABS, VSC Trac and VSC off lights turn on, alarm buzzes, then turns...
I'm well on my way to replacing the brake booster pump. It's removed and I'm ready to install the new one. However I'm not sure where the O'ring that came with the new one goes. Logically it really can only fit around the "lovejoy" but I don't see that it had one prior to uninstall and it...
Not sure if these can be rebuilt, or if someone just needs a core….
Free, you pay shipping (I’ll take the master cylinder off)
Part number is hard to read:
44610-60030
According to the catalog the bolts that hold the brake backing plate to the rear axle housing are PN 42184-35010 (69-74). I see they are discontinued. Does anyone know the size/length/grade/thread size for these. Thank you.
Hi There
Have a 1999 LC 100 with 175 K Miles on it.
Hear of Brake accumulator failing on the LC 100. How to test and do preventive maintenance ? Had our LC 200 accumulator fail and lost the brakes but was able to come to a safe stop.
Also I have an issue where the first press of the brake...
What are people running for upgraded brake lines?
I want to refresh my brakes as a winter project. At 30 years old, the rubber lines are probably toast.
I'd prefer DOT rated stainless lines with a sheathing. I'm running some from SQHD on the 200 and they are fine. I'd like to get some that are...
