Thank you! I’m anxious but looking forward to the chore. It’s gonna be huge. A person through Facebook offered to do it at his garage w/ a bunch of other guys... I declined. I want the challenge at my own home in my own space where I can be myself sweating and swearing and cracking a beer once I’m all done.

I did mine alone in my garage. I was not in a rush and did it in 2 parts. Front first and then the rear.
I found I had one busing in the rear I could not get out for the life of me. I drilled out the bushing and then it just popped out.
I could not use a torch due as I did not want the burning rubber smell to penetrate the house, plus I was renting at the time.

Another tip is to use a punch/ drift to remove the spring pins, this worked for me as mine were in there for life.
Aside from that I cut the U bolts front and rear with a Sawzall.

I learned from the PO that not greasing greasable shackles and spring pins results in them being cemented in place.
I never used a torch and got everything off my rig, (it was from IL, RI and NH so never in a happy sunny place) without much issue.

You can do this yourself.

It’s great you have the Nissan as well.
No rush to get if it installed. You have your second car to get you around.
Just do it!

Yes and no. It’s not 100%. It’s got a funky seemingly uphill hesitation.

Next full avail weekend will be Nov 17th to begin the wrestling match of Me versus New England road grimy/rusty FJ60 suspension. Thank you Jason, @TRAIL TAILOR!
(Rear shock package still in transit).

Awesome , You will be sooooo happy with how a new lift rides and feels. Mine took about a day to do, but it's a Cali. truck. Good luck with the install. X 2, on the P B blaster, it will be your best friend.

Yep, you'll love those springs. I have em, they're great. Ride greatly improved.
Determination is no 1 needed tool, it's really no fun at times. You got this.

When I was in my late teens and early twenties I used to go on long bake cruises in my ‘84 VW Rabbit through the state forest.. now at 44 I’m going on long mushroom hunt cruises in my ‘87 LC.
Funny. Beautiful night for a slow crawl through the woods. I had no idea where I was but I knew I’d figure it out eventually. And the truck ran perfectly.

Yeah the foliage is hard to beat here in NE.
So just a fun non build photo share.... my son wants to be a Velociraptor for Halloween. I think he’s gonna dig the costume I’ve been making but I’m also worried it might scare the crap out of him too!

Happy Halloween Mudders!

LOL!!!! With that kinda presentation he should dress up as a religious zealot next year!!!!

Haha. Yeah he’s a real ham... he mimicks well too cuz I said those words to him and he parroted them right back on cue.

So it’s beautiful out... I’m attempting to get this patch fit for my frame. Had to cut it cuz I just couldn’t get any bends w/ it attached. So far I’m at this point and doing what I can to make the middle section fit.
Kiddo helped.

I could do this all day.

And this is all w/ a vice and hand tools. Imagine what I could do w/ the right tools!

Kid is sleeping so no noisy tasks till he’s awake, bedroom is right next to the driveway and only a number of yards from where I was using the angle grinder. I can’t risk waking him, he barely ate anything other than candy since last night and this AM. Just eat it and make it go away!

Greased and wire brushed the shackle pins. Spun the muffler around so the outlet is on the driver side to see about sending the tailpipe out the frame side of the shock. I’ve got the leftover thick rubber muffler hangers from my Nissans old exhaust system so I’m gonna see about fabbing up a couple brackets and hangers w/ them for the truck.

Now if this beautiful 70 degree weather would just stick around!

Well I’d love to make these work... save a few dimes and recycle something that’ll only go in the garbage. Got the middle section of patch bent up and smoothed out. Is it overkill?

Those arent stock exhaust hangers. Something that I have been looking at though for my front mount.
Yeah no, as I’d written above they’re left over from my Nissan.
