FWIW the fourth rig in the convoy belongs to @tequila4x4 😉

Thanks for hosting and getting everything set up, it was great meeting you and the family! Good looking rig too. I'll be sure to post up about the headliner once I get started with that!

Headliner arriving today, headliner install and glass R&R scheduled to start tomorrow. I'm having the upholstery guy also repair the vinyl on the driver's seat and add some foam to the bun for support, instead of replacing. Excited to get started but hoping they don't find anything gnarly under there and they get done in time. We'll see. This ain't my first rodeo when it comes to interior stuff, hoping for the best since this is very limited, but you know how it goes.....

:worms:

Digging right in - rig is dropped off at the headliner / upholstery shop, glass guy was able to stop by and pulled all 3 windows. Rears came out fine, front was a bit of a mess but he was able to pull the windshield without it cracking. Glass guy is saying this wasn't factory, but who knows... all I know is it sounds like this was a real pain to pull out. Fortunately there was only a small spot of surface rust just under the lip at the upper passenger corner, and he'll treat that before reinstalling with a new gasket. This was mid-removal, he was able to pull most of the left over polyurethane sealant off the body.

Headliner installer will get right into it tomorrow. He's saying he'll be done by Friday, but we'll see how that goes. Glass guy will come back to reinstall glass with new gaskets once that's all done.

I took part in installing a windshield on a 60 with Jimmy @CenTXFJ60 and it was terribly stressful for me and it wasn’t my rig or anything. Got it in without incident because Jimmy is the man-dude-guy-bro…

Do you have a picture of the problem area?

Not really - it wasn't too clear. I'm going to ask for a better one tomorrow from my headliner guy.

Headliner, day 2. Good progress here. The passenger “rust spot” was actually just some glue. It smells way better already, lol.

No rust or water issues on the sill or interior which is great.

More to come.

After that FJ62 I inspected two weeks ago, this is a beautiful sight!

Seat repair will happen tomorrow, getting in touch with glass guy to reinstall glass and hopefully pick up Saturday.

That looks great!
The glass guy is mobile, and was reasonable for the work involved. The headliner guy is in Rosemead on Garvey. I can't remember how I found him, it was probably a Craigslist plus Yelp plus FB search I did back in February.

They should pay you for a testimonial! The installer AND Cruiser Corps.

I like to rep for good vendors whenever I can! The headliner guy in particular has been great to work with, and he's doing more than just the headliner, also fixing the vinyl on the original seat covers and a few other odds and ends.

So rig is back - headliner looks awesome, really happy with it. Will take more photos tomorrow. The glass however got a little more complicated right at the end, Glass guy was able to install the old windshield, but the gasket that I bought from City Racer about 3 years ago for the FJ62 was just bit too tight, and a small nick in the side of the windshield turned into a crack that spread about 4" from the upper driver's edge towards the middle. And that happened evidently after about 3 hours of work trying to get this gasket to fit. Suffice to say, getting a new windshield and a different gasket, this one probably with a lock strip. We'll see, I need to talk to him Monday.

The headliner guy also replaced the vinyl panels on both front seat bottoms, and added some foam to the driver's bolster. Much more comfortable than it was.

So - mostly a win, I'd say. At the very minimum, the mouse-y stink is gone, but the carpet now looks way too shabby. It doesn't stop, does it...
