When you delete the oil cooler, do you just plug the two holes in the block with bolts?

Productive yet not exciting work today.

I got the exhaust cut out and then successfully separated the intake and exhaust. Cleaned it all back up and reassembled with a new set of Remflex gaskets.

I pulled the shafts and have the transmission all ready to pull out.

Made a pile for powder keg and just sat down to figure out what I’m going to tackle next.

Slowly started putting stuff back on the motor. Painted the timing cover and harmonic balancer. I’ll get the front end of the motor built back up tomorrow once it all dries.

Cleaned up the alternator so it would not look out of place on the cleaned up motor. It’s a sweet OEM reman.

Waiting on parts to keep building on the motor so I switched gears to switching gears.

If you ever do this swap with used 3rds, make sure you install the donor front into the rear. Trucks with hubs the 3rd member just sits there and does not move until the hubs are locked. Chances are they have .001 of the miles and wear the rears do.

The drums were hammered. Pads gone. One cylinder leaking. Grooves.

Rear third installed after polishing the surface and using only the OEM paper gasket.

Will replace the pinion seal and flange when my Cruiser Outfitters box arrives.

This thing had some no name fan clutch on it and I replaced it with the proper OEM style.

Gonna call it quits and tackle front axle destruction tomorrow.

Got on this one today about 11:30.
IMG_6288.webp

Tore into the front axle. Brakes were hammered. Birf soup. Chiseled hub nuts. The usual.
IMG_6292.webp

Got this soft head for whacking on the hub studs to make the cone washers loosen. Amazon. Good stuff.
IMG_6289.webp

As I got stuff off I dropped it in the Zepp Purple tub. Then it goes to the pressure washer. Then pressure air dry. Then the paint booth

I’ll swap out the 3rd tomorrow first thing then start making it a roller again.

Finished up the front and rebuilt all of the rear brake components. New bearings and seals.

Steering next.

I’m going to put one more day in one this one and then tow it out so I can finish a 40 that’s been here almost a year.

@cruiseroutfit needs to put a note in my profile next to EXTRA TAPE that I’m a RHD hater and please confirm any RHD orders

Got it all put back together on the front end. Lots of pretty OEM hoses, clamps and tubes. New Denso compressor and dryer. Belts.

As I said before. I have to drag this one out tomorrow for a couple days but the big jobs are done.

What’s left:

Swap in H55
Replace and clutch masters
New rubber hoses
DUI and live wires
Repair exhaust
Sliders
Windshield replacement

That’s the major stuff.

Spent the day running errands mostly.

Went to auto parts place for coolant. Sam’s for a phat AGM battery.

Came home and got the Goat to pick up a pallet and when I arrived a second pallet had arrived so I used @jomelo’s FJ45 for the second trip. His is a bit faster than mine
