I have yet to see anyone address removing the stock auto-dimming rearview mirror in an '05 LC 100 and its power connection inside the overhead light console - am I missing something already posted somewhere? There is no readily apparent way to access the connection within the mirror housing - I haven't attempted to pry anything apart there. I can see where the wire to the mirror connects inside the overhead map/courtesy light assembly, and wonder if undoing the brackets and tabs above the light housing will allow the connector to be pulled through the headliner trim at the edge of the windshield. Anyone have any input?

You can pull the little console off the headliner (one screw under the sunglasses holder) & disconnect the wire that way!

I have the whole light assembly removed, which gives me access to everything inside the headliner, including the orange connector from the mirror to the wiring harness, but I have yet to sort out how that comes apart. Beyond that, there are 2 more brackets that the wire goes under and will need to be removed, and then fish the wire & connector through the headliner gap. Any hints on how the orange connector comes apart?

You just need to squeeze one of the sides - I pulled some of the foam off the orange connector until I found the side that had the tab. I seem to remember there's also a screw holding the wire down.

Here is mine. I cut the wire in a way that I can solder it if I needed to use the rearview again but probably going in the trash eventually.

Thanks...yes, that's what I'm seeing, only with the female portion of the orange connector covered in foam and oriented so that the left side is hidden. It's also a tight connection and difficult to maneuver the plug to see that side. Removing the brackets and pulling the wire through from the mirror side a bit should give me better access to the plug assembly.

That orange connector is stubborn.

Got mine installed, need to hook up power tomorrow. I couldn’t use the LJE inside mount because of an obstructed view with my tire and other equipment on my bumper, so I used the plate bracket and installed it under my Slee jerry can holder. Once I get it all lined up I’ll locktight the screws.

I’ll probably unplug the wires and use some loom for a cleaner look before calling it done.

I had to drill out the back plate of the 129 mount because the LJE supplied screws would only go in halfway. The 129 had different hole sizes front to back. 🤨 Also had to clean up the printed bracket with a pick but that’s probably to be expected as those are really small holes.

Probably the only issue is the single screw, that attaches the assembly to the windshield base, when tight is slightly wobbly. I’ll try to snug a little more as the only metric allen I had handy was a Wiha precision so not a lot of leverage there.

From the image of your Wolfbox mirror and the overhead light console cavity, it seems that you may run into an issue of restricted maneuverability of the mirror once you install the light cover, as I did. On my '05 LC100, the rear camera connector at the mirror is too tall to allow the mirror to be fully adjustable once the light cover is installed. I contacted LJE/Artisan Garage, and they were able to provide a redesigned plate that lowers the mirror so that the connector clears the light console housing. LJE/Artisan Garage is very helpful in making sure their products work for you (FYI, I have no affiliation with LJE/Artisan Garage).

I also have the slightly wobbly assembly issue, and am considering fabricating a shim of some sort to take up the space between the #129 mount & the windshield base.

I installed a G900 Pro today using @LJE kit. The 12” screen is big but both visors swing without obstruction once the screen is angled out of the way (image 1). I had to use a step drill on the #129 arm mount (image 2) to allow the windshield metal clip (image 3) to sit flush and remove any play. I also used an M5-0.80 x 16mm bolt with socket cap to replace the stripped out JIS screw to mount #129 arm mount to the windshield. I used Wolfbox’s hardwire kit and connected the red accessory wire to Cigar 15amp and the B+ constant to Defog 20amp per @terryscott621 post (image 4). The rear camera is mounted at the top of the headliner trim (image 5).

Thanks all!

This is what I did to make mine super tight! No play!

I think I may end up making the G900 Tripro a separate option in the future if multiple folks have issues with the connectors - I'm intrigued why some folks have or have not - but, absolutely willing to send out the adaptor bracket that drops the mirror down if needed to folks!

This is what I did to make mine super tight! No play!
Some people have also had the wiggle - my OEM mirror wiggled, and so did the wolfbox when I initially installed it. I actually used some electrical tape to shim the backside of the mount arm (well, the front side of the part glued to the windshield) which eliminated it. My windshield mount is all sorts of mangled though from someone before me, so it wasn't surprising to me that I had some odd wiggle - but I think it's more common than initially thought.

One of these days I'll find someone near me that wants one these kits installed & do a video on it!

Installed my Wolfbox 900tripro last week. Very pleased with the entire set-up and the LJE mount kit.

I do have the same issues as mentioned above, ie; play in the 129 mount and the camera leads contacting the light bezel.

Fortunately, the cameras do all the work so I do not necessarily have to have the mirror positioned exactly like a "traditional"
mirror. So, I have mine positioned straighter, and just enough to clear the light bezel.

Would be ideal to have the 129 mount re-designed to offer more clearance. Also need to try the boring out of the area at the
spring clip to eliminate the play in the mount.

I do like and prefer the interior rear camera mounting. Though, I'm sure everyone else has the same issue with glare and clarity
with the factory tint?

I'd suggest shimming the backside of the mount arm with some electrical tape - it'll all be hidden once it's installed, but will eliminate the wiggle! Boring out the mount would work too, just requires a little more effort. I may start looking at including a shim of some sort in the kits, since this issue seems like it's not just isolated to my truck (which I initially assumed it was based on my very much not-factory totally glued windshield mount plate).

If you'd like one of the 'drop' brackets, just let me know! Perhaps @Carter2 can post up a picture of what it looks like once mounted? I'd love to see it installed too! This is what it looks like in CAD - you can see how it would drop the mirror downwards. I think the first person that used one of my mounts on the Tripro must have been fine with how the original bracket positioned it, as they said it worked great - so if there's an issue, please let me know!

In general on my G930 I found that positioning it like a normal mirror (i.e, where I could use it as a mirror with the screen turned off) was actually counter-productive - I'd get a ton out glare from the outside world bouncing off the mirror portion and muddying the displayed feed. I think I actually have my G930 display tilted up a smidge, so that it's 'looking' at the interior headliner, which prevents the display from trying to fight daylight-bright reflections coming through the rear window (which is a hard thing to do - the sun puts out a silly amount of light!).

I actually think the camera clarity is great through the rear glass & I don't end up with any glare - this is a really silly question, but you don't have a fingerprint smudge on the lens, do you? I will say I used the 'double jointed' mount bracket that Wolfbox provides for the camera to 'extend' it to the rear glass, with may be why I don't get any glare.

I ended up using the mirror mounting bracket that came with my wolfbox kit, as it is a little thinner and pulled the wire leads away from the light bezel just enough to take the load off them.

Lenses are clean, but the rear camera is probably further from the glass than yours is so maybe that's contributing to the glare. Though, not any more than the front is from the windshield. Think I'll grab a couple sheets of the anti-glare film for the mirror and cut a piece for the rear camera too and see if that reduces it.

Great.

I haven’t reinstalled my console yet because I will be having a large control panel up there. We need Wit’s End to make those mirror mounts for the 100. 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️

Like I mentioned about, there's a fix for this if you end up needing it (some do, some don't it seems).

I guess I probably do. Let me know what you need from me.

FWIW I have a 2007 and I have the 900Pro.
I'd suggest actually just trying it first.

I've sold ~100 of these kits, and thus far only have had the one report of any interference - and if I had to guess, that's likely because Carter prefers to position it like a 'normal' mirror, which I've personally found to be counterproductive in real life due to reflections (but each to their own!).

If it turns out to be an issue, I'll ship you the 'drop' bracket free of charge.

Per @LJE's suggestion, photos of the Wolfbox mirror drop-down adaptor installed are attached. Note that the semi-low-profile 90-degree connectors, which you can see in some of the images, are NOT required for the mirror to clear the light bezel now that I have the new adaptor installed. However, I'm going to use them, as they help clean up the mess of wires that come out of the top of the mirror.

My objective is to use the mirror as an always-on rear-view mirror, but I have found the reflections from every window & surface in the vehicle during the day very distracting. Accordingly, I've installed anti-glare film on my mirror to eliminate them. The film eliminates ALL reflections, including when the mirror is "off", which means the Wolfbox mirror can't be used as an actual mirror if desired. I'm considering how I might modify the drop-down glasses holder to contain a "real" mirror to provide some ability to see behind me when the Wolfbox is off.

I initially installed the rear-view camera inside the vehicle using the LJE bracket, but experienced glare from headlights of cars behind me at night. I'm experimenting with mounting the camera under my RTT (to keep it somewhat protected from rain), which gives me a view from a higher vantage point, out of the direct line of car headlights. I haven't had an opportunity to try this new setup at night yet, so I can't report on its effectiveness in reducing glare.
