And? He wase making stuff for Tacomas back in September of ‘24 because he knew he had screwed too many people over in the LC scene so he needed a new base to steal money from. All I’m saying is he’s been back longer than 2025

Scheel-man into your Tacoma, new member intro - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/scheel-man-into-your-tacoma-new-member-intro.842853/
I love how he says that scheel-Mann approached him. 😂. I don’t believe that for one second.

@gonzopancho - I know a bible reference but that’s for you to live by. You are free to forgive him and do whatever. I’ll voice my opinion, though, which is that he stole money from many people on this forum and faced no consequences on the forum because vocal minority said, “No, not Joey. He would never” and blamed the victims. Finally, the legal system was used by a group of people in an attempt to recover “some money” but mostly prevent him from continuing to steal money.

Not long after his the legal case was settled, his wife and/or his son opened new LLCs with the same business model and same customer base to continue doing what they were doing.

Are they stealing thru their new business? No idea and I hope not.

Have they taken accountability? Nope.

Fück him, fück his family. Go live a happy life but stay away from this community ✌🏻

This is probably the most frustrating part for me. When the threads first popped up the way other would get absolutely dog piled by people saying “just wait, it’s not Amazon, patience is gone and you need to stop being a nerd it now person” just allowed him to keep getting away with it for longer than he should’ve. And it repeated itself again with ToyotaMatt (not comparing him to Joey, I do believe he just got in over his head and didn’t know how to stop). If a company is taking month to send someone that’s “in stock or will ship in a few weeks” people should post it and if it’s a company someone’s had no issues with good for them that doesn’t negate the fact that someone else is getting bent over.

The toyota truck communities are different from other car communities, our trucks kinda don't have anything to prove we're not competing for anything with anyone so it's a different atmosphere. Unfortunately that also allows vendors to prey on the cohesiveness and good nature of the community, none of this is new this exact situation has been playing itself out for as long as I've been around mud....since my first 80 when I was 16 years old 25 years ago. Believe it or not it's actually a little better now, yea we had a lot of jerks who enabled more people to be ripped off but in the long ago past the discussion wouldn't have been entertained at all. I was completely taken for a ride on an EMS exhaust a decade or so ago as were multiple other guys, anyone who had bought one of their exhausts after the initial batch or knew anything about the company knew full well they were just selling off comically unusable junk until the wheels fell off and nobody said a word about it, it was all glowing praise here on mud. Even after it was all over and they were gone it was like a taboo topic, you weren't allowed to talk about how you were completely ripped off you had to understand that the company "tried their best" it just didn't work out and to accept with a smile that they willfully sold you scrap metal junk. Mind you on other forums they raked them over the coals, put their personal information out for everyone they scammed, made sticky threads warning about not doing business with them and guys were trying to find the owners to get their money back. Here on mud it was never even talked about, when I brought it up I was shot down and guys wished the owner well in the future because he had "good intentions"......I'm not even exaggerating.

That experience is why I don't keep my mouth shut anymore and why I'll go at it with anyone who tries to get someone else to keep quiet about their experience, nobody should be preyed upon just because we're decent people that's unacceptable. I hope others take that same lesson from this.

Well said Francis. I was around when the EMS situation happened, and until you brought it up, I didn't connect the dots between EMS and WE debacles. Very interesting indeed.

Was reading back over this thread, and noticed this:
Turns out, Wits end never really designed anything. If Wits end designed anything, I'm pretty sure it would've been locked up in the court case and now owned by whoever prevailed.

I went and met with the machine shop that designed, prototyped, and machined all of the parts Wits end sold and struck a deal with him (the machine shop) to

@Delta VS

I don’t know what you were told, but this isn’t true. I know because I employ someone who did a few designs for Wit’s End, and Joey acked when asked.

Further, Jason at @TRAIL TAILOR was manufacturing for Joey (but didn’t design the parts he was making.)

I understand there was some recovery, likely via bankruptcy court, but do you understand there is a difference between civil and criminal (justice) courts? (And, for that matter, bankruptcy courts are neither.)

Short of an injunction, imprisonment or voluntary agreement from Joey, no court is going to restrict future business activity before the fact.

Not long after his the legal case was settled,

Settled or adjudicated?
Fück him, fück his family.

This is where we started. Do you know that his son harmed you or others here or do you just “have a feeling”?

Go live a happy life but stay away from this community ✌🏻
I’ll assume you’re not directing this at me.

Sounds a bit like you’re defending Joey. That won’t well.

I’m actually defending my employee and his designs. DVS said, “Joey never designed anything” and that the machine shop they found had designed and was making everything Joey sold.

Neither statement is true.

This isn’t about what Joey said or did or didn’t do. It’s about what DVS said.

I deal with intellectual property every day of my life.

I know several businesses/people who made parts for joey. He did have his own designs and he also paid to have wits end engraved on products other people designed and/or manufactured for him. That's extremely common. He also had several different businesses/people making the same wits end branded product at different times for multiple reasons - one of which was unpaid debt with previously used manufacturers who would no longer make production runs for him.

My only direct experience with joey is this - In the latter stages of his revolving door style of excuses for being unable to deliver turbo kits, I very politely offered to put joey in contact with a few people at companies I used previously in my career who could solve the problems he said he was having at the time. I was genuinely trying to help and sought nothing in return. His reply was "I would rather see this project burn to the ground than accept help." Fair enough. That combined with my knowledge of the experiences of businesses/people making products for him told me everything I needed to know about his way of doing business.

He's a turd plain and simple, and a turd by any other name is still a turd... Or for those who speak spanish; Zurullo otra vez...

The best thing to do knowing the limited punitive impact, accountability, and recovery, let everyone you know and get the word out about his endeavors and activities. Wallet choices are great drying up any creek. Knowing he started the Tacoma business before his fall, I would doubt he is divorced from (any of) it. Absolutely disgusting. I have a couple of friends who got played by him. Very sad. Love this community because there is a high integrity road we drive. Wallet choice is powerful high road.

Dude the guy ripped off a lot of people who cares who did the designing?
I wish people would quit defending the scumbag

Businesses fail all the time. But what I find inexcusable is when you steal money, close shop, and then reopen the business under a different name. He should be in jail.
