Fellow Mudders,
I am in need of a wiper park switch cover for a 1972 FJ40 wiper motor.
This is the snap on one not the one that screws down.
I understand that they aren't just laying around all over the place, so I want to make my own.
I will be casting this from urethane, so I can make as many as are needed, but I need an original that
is in decent shape to use as a master for the mold.
If anyone is willing to let me borrow one to use, I will return it as well as one of the new cast parts.
If there is a need for the part that screws down, I can make that part too. Not a big deal.
I appreciate any help with an original part.

IIRC, somebody is already printing these. @JohnnyC, maybe. I'll look around.

Like these?

I don't recall seeing a wiper assembly that didn't have the provision for the cover to screw down to... these will most likely work if you came up with something... I figure the originals pressed over

If you send me measurements I can try one with no tabs

Or you can have one of these that are a work however... and I will not be back at work until next week

Those are pretty darn nice JohnnyC. I especially like the TOYOTA logo added. I work in a plastics plant and am very aware of printed parts. I'm not a big fan of the build lines on them however. Perhaps I can get one of your units and fill it in and smooth it out before making a mold. As for mounting, as long as it covers, I have no problem with using silicone as an adhesive to keep it in place. I shouldn't be removing it very often if at all. Please let me know how much and everything when you can. No hurry.
Thanks

If you want to try to make a copy of my oem plastic one I'll send you that as well

The 3D ones are good replacements ... but... if you can make an original copy that would help out the community more

It's got the typical warped center area however which might make the mold not work so well

I'll send you one of the 3D that I got made

Pm me your address

Btw Free ... as long as I get the oem one back lol

My 2/1971 wiper assembly does not have the screw holes for a cover.

I guess after so many years of them falling off they decided to have attachment screws to hold it

I wonder what year they made it screw on 73-74'?

The part number is the same throughout ... 85146-60070

No distinction that there are two versions

Thanks JohnnyC. I'll PM you my info shortly.
If you can send me the original and one of the printed ones, I'll go from there. I bet I can straighten out the warp in the original.
When I'm done you'll get both back plus one of the cast versions.
Thanks for the help. This is going to be fun!

If you get them molded from urethane put me down for one!

I'm trying to figure that out: I'm looking at some pics but ever notice that when you need to see some detail on an FJ40 there is NEVER a pic in the 1000's you have of THAT detail?

Ha! Just found a 1973 pic that definitely shows the screw on cover so you are right. It started in the 73 model year!

A recasting of the housing and making a new cover to match ... and it only lasted 2 years here in USA at least

Typical toyota :)

I have received the covers from the very generous JohnnyC and I will start the casting process soon.
I plan on filling the build lines on the printed version and sanding it smooth before making the mold.
I will probably make 1 mold with the mounting tabs and 1 without.
I also have the original cover and will attempt to make a mold from it after some repair.
Stay tuned!

Just a note on smoothing a 3d printed part.
You can warm a small amount of acetone and enclosed it with your part. It will become glass smooth in quick order. For pla only...
Google acetone smoothing... cool stuff.

Sure thing Coolerman. I think these will compliment JohnnyC's version nicely.

@BIG RENO AL Please also put me down for one as well. I have been searching for a snap on version for some time, would like to put one back on my 10/71 FJ40 wiper motor. Thanks!
