Coming home this weekend and parting out - 1962 FJ40. Many original parts. (motor is an F, but not original).
Aside from the rotted rear sill, the tub is solid.
Barn doors are in very good condition - no rot.
Windshield Frame is solid.
The t-case shift system is complete/intact.
Everything goes. No title, but long out of the system. The vehicle has not been registered for over 20 years. Tub and Frame VIN's match.
Frame is in excellent condition. (For being 50 years old)
I'll update this list after I get it in the shop and start taking it apart.
FYI, I have more pics if you need to see something specific before I pick it up this weekend

Interested in the FD knob and assembly, the heater, ignition switch and key (if you have it) and the brake wheel cylinders and brake parts if it is still the older 9mm stuff.

PM sent

Transmission and shifter if it is original to the vehicle and not a later three speed. The bezel around the bib also Plus the grill in the bib.

I just noticed the stub of the column shifter by the steering wheel. Guessing the transmission was updated:frown:

Just noticed doors or at least door parts. Interested in parts if they sliding not crack style. Also the aprons but the mainly the driver's with a vent towards the front.

Curious what is the number before FJ40 in the VIN? One or two?

looking for the 4 front bumper gussets. two on top and one on each side. shipping to 34994 please.

I have strong feeling this cruiser's VIN started with one and would of had top gussets on top but would be shorter than 62 and later. Side gussets would not have been there at all. Instead two small plates on the bottom. By the looks I think most everthing is gone already.

Sean if this is a 61 with the larger fill neck it would do you any good if the stock cap isn't there and you don't have one. I could use another large fill neck. It would save me from having to splice the bottom end of later one to complete the one I have. If it the later small one you need I should have a few, Earlier four mounting holes or later three?

1962 VIN

For those of you interested, the VIN is 1FJ40-10183.:)

Is this one of the oldest 40's around? #183 built nostalgia kicking in again, looks like it is too late to save this one.

I agree that it would be nice to see this one saved, but, those of us who love the old rigs are not that many...in my case there is my distance, so all I can do is see if someone local is interested...someone who might have missed this thread...

I think this is the oldest that we know where it is at. A title and frame and I could save the old girl but still have the problem of the original engine gone. Just having the old title in hand even if you couldn't transfer it wouldn't be a problem. The missing engine is the biggest problem unless you want to make a new VIN plate with a different engine number that was close. That would mean getting a new VIN plate which would be hard.

Still looking for the fill neck and aprons mainly the driver's side with the intake. The fill neck has a large opening. It also looks like it has just something covering the opening and no cap? Still interested in the original transmission/shifter if this is it.

I will say you guys disappointed me not asking how I know the intake is on the driver's apron.

Reddingcruiser I missed you PM bucause my PM box was full, try senting it again.

The hood latch location on the right fender apron = left apron intake hole. This one also has the centered rear diff axle, easy way to put 40 brakes on a 25.

I agree that it's a shame to see the old girl parted out, but on the other hand, I would rather see more people with "90%" rigs get the the missing pieces they're looking for, and keep those on the road. Here are a few more pics.
