What's the price for that one?Way out of left field here - but im getting ready to pull a Mosley built 2f with all the fixings for a customer - doing an LS swap
I need to find this 2f a new home…..
Also curious on the price. Location? What's the price for that one?
I have a engine I just pulled out of an 87 Toyota Land Cruiser I removed it cuz I am upgrading to a LS motor I would like to sell the motor and all the accessories complete as can be I would like $1,000 for it if someone is interestedSo I have a 1986 fj60 that I really love. The interior has been dynamatted and all the upholstery has been done. However I went to drive it yesterday and smoke was just pouring out of the tailpipe. I got out and checked and sure enough there’s oil buildup in the tailpipe.
I had been planning on converting it to a h55f trans for some time now but it looks like the motor is going to need some major work too.
Here’s the specific problem I face, I live in the middle of nowhere and there’s no engine rebuilders near me. For reference the closest city is Odessa Texas or El Paso Texas and they are over 3 hours away in different directions. So I was thinking of just buying an already rebuilt engine and having it shipped to me, throw the new H55f and transfer case on the new to me engine and shoehorn it into the FJ60.
Now, where’s the best place to buy a rebuilt engine? I’ve seen the one at classic cruisers for $8250 and I’ve seen a couple on eBay for $7000. I figured Mosley motors was going to be even more expensive and longer wait time. I’m not after killer power just a good solid engine that’ll go good with an H55 3:1 transfer case and a Holley sniper EFI kit
I appreciate any and all the help!
TL;DR
I need a new 2F motor and there’s no engine rebuild shops near me, where do I buy a motor rebuilt ready to go in the car?
That's a bargain.$5-10K
This tracks. My 2F rebuild last year cost about $5k for core motor (I rebuilt a spare core while still driving my existing 2F), parts, and machining. I followed the Onur-san path of obtaining as many new or NOS Toyota or OEM parts as I possibly could, going to great lengths to find some of that stuff. I had things getting delivered to me from Japan, Australia, and the Middle East, as well as domestic deliveries from here in the States. The exceptions were pushrods, lifters (which were reground), crank (which was machined), valve, side, & front covers, connecting rods, and rocker assembly.Rebuilt 2Fs (especially 1981-1987 iterations) using all available OEM parts where applicable, disassembly, cleaning, measuring, machining costs, searching for better parts if parts are marginal, painting/powdercoating, rebuilding any assemblies/accessories not available anymore $5-10K all day, every day.
Unless it’s been run without oil, most I find just need a valve job.City motors in Dallas does them all the time.Last one they did for me 300
