In 2007(?) I bought some OEM steelies from the dealer and sent them out to a wheel builder in California (can't remember their name but will look it up) and they widened them from 15x5.5 to 15x8.
I remember seeing this done a while back for a different application and I can't remember who it was that was doing it. I'd love to know the builder if you can recall!

I answered my own question with a quick search. This was the company I was thinking:

I've been through this thread a few times but cant remember seeing anyone post about running these wheels:

They're about as close to a factory looking wheel as I can find and they offer a wide range of sizing.
Due to the nature of the search term (US Wheel), I'm not really able to get the search function to pinpoint what I'm looking for. I'm wanting to run a 33x12.50 tire and looks like they have a few options in 15" or 16" that offer -19 to 0 offsets and 3.750" to 4.50" backspace.

does anyone know if these wheels wiil work for my FJ62? 31inch tires.

Toyota TRD 17x7jj with removable center cap (about 4.125 in backspacing) will fit an 85 FJ60 with factory tie rods mounted under the steering arm. I unfortunately have GM 1 ton rod ends and with them positioned on top of the steering arms instead of below they won’t fit my truck. I talked the local dealership into letting me borrow and test a wheel

I’m trying desperately to get the 16 inch FJ cruiser wheels and 4in wheel spacers off my truck, but the wheel selection seems to be dwindling without spending $$$$$$

Looks awesome! I'm about to do something similar with my build. Do you know what the offset or back spacing is on your steelies? Are you running a 2" lift? as mine is currently stock height and want to avoid the $$$ of new tyres and a lift!
Cheers
Brodie
Sorry for the delayed reply.

They are 15x8 rims on the OEM 40 series wheel centers with the riveted clips. Those wheels were 15x5.5 and the new wheels were setup/built with the same backspace......unfortunately its been 20 years since I had them made and I don't remember the backspace. LMK if you would like for me to measure.

The lift is an old 3inch BDS lift and shocks. I have a new OME heavy/heavy lift and shocks ready to go on soon.

Goodluck on your build.

Installed some 85H7883NS (VSW-85H7883NS) on my 77' FJ40 and they locked against my O'reilly supplied remanufactured front calipers. I added a 1/4" spacer to each side ($20/pair, also O'reilly) and they very slightly snagged on the caliper so I ground a hair off of the nub hitting the wheel and all is well.

Just posted this on a different thread but figured it would be good to have here. Stock backspace for the fj60 is 3.5 and to get that here are the wheel sizes that net you a 3.5 backspace. On this thread youll notice sometimes people can fit wheels with different backspacing like 4.1 like in the post a few back. This is because they are using narrower tires. To get to 3.5 backspacing you need to hit these specs:

Offsets stay the same as wheel size changes.

15 inch Wheel
15x7 -12
15x8 -25
15x8.5 -32
15x9 -38
15x9.5 -44

16 inch Wheel
16x7 -12
16x8 -25
16x8.5 -32
16x9 -38
16x9.5 -44

17 inch Wheel
17x7 -12
17x8 -25
17x8.5 -32
17x9 -38
17x9.5 -44

*Note when you go into the wider wheels wider than 8.5 you might run into issues with the tire hitting your leaf springs

Not chrome. Satin sheen.
Does anyone know the paint code on the 42601-60262-03? Ordered a set from Toyotapartsdeal and they shipped them loose in 2 boxes! They are offering a good refund if I just keep them. Want to get paint mixed up and put in a can for touchup.

Thanks guys!

Mine arrived (from another vendor) in similar condition/ chipping paint chipping or rubbing off on the outer edge. *The metal lip is not damaged.

Watching for ideas of a good touch up paint…

The “right” way is to get them bead blasted and powder coated. Touch up paint on that edge is risky as when they install tires it could rip it off if it isn’t bonded to the wheel
The benefit of this is you can then use any color you want. Even send them to be chromed and theyll look like OEM wheels if thats what you are into
