Went to the local steel toy store and stocked up on material.

Came up with a simple dump hinge setup. Some square tube and a Yakima bar. Works good too, nice and snug but pivots nicely. I'll add some gussets when I final weld it all.
Not sure if I'll keep it one bar or split it. I'll also add holes for cotter keys.

You should put some brass bushings in there or something.

Or just a snug fitting pipe over the pipe(yakima?) for the hinge. I'm not saying square can't work but over time idk.

I like the air jack. I have one on my cherry picker. Slow but faster than me pumping!

That would work as well, probably better. This was a "what do I have that works" thing, like a lot of things, subject to improvement.

Air jack is slow, but theatrical, lol.

Best to do things with some semblance of “correctness” otherwise it ends up failing at an inopportune time and then you have to rip a bunch of other stuff out to fix it later. NOT that I have ever had an experience anything like that…

The test pieces I like the hydraulic option. Not sure if it's slower than by hand, never tried it, just mounted the hydraulic ram and went for it. I didn't have a place to permanent mount too, another reason I went for hydraulic.

I went from the air over hydraulic to the electric pump and it is about 4X faster. Pending your compressor it may be even slower due to volume and CFM. PLUS not hearing the compressor run all the time was worth it for me too.

So the idea was my dad's. Use a pop-up sunroof for the rear window. Wow! Looks great too! Perfect size, reminds me of the older truck windows, older looking. Super excited how it came out.
Let my dad have the honor measuring and cutting.

This is a really cool and unique build! Can't wait to see how you get the drivetrain all buttoned up.
