Yea that is tiny.. is the horn symbol a sticker? That is one of the things they look for during inspections in Japan. Same with the shifter knob it has to show the gear pattern

I still have the original if you are ever looking for one.

I actually drove it a few weeks back. It has the stock wheel and the correct 5 speed knob. Very solid truck and runs great. Kept turning the wipers on to change lanes but other than that it does exactly like any rural mail route vehicle should do.

View attachment 2223773hey Mark, the center button is actually a real horn button. Can’t seem to get her to work but it’s there :). Sent you a text on the wheel. Thanks.

So I’ve knocked out a few 60’s the last several days. Keeping to my plan on the non runners. Steer, stop, and dried in and then I turn them into mobile storage units. My cabin is over half empty so far. I had to buy 4 new parking brake cables as these seem to freeze up when sitting idle for so long. Learned today that the 81/82’s have a different bracket securing the cable to the axle. This truck on the lift is an 82. From CA with 99k (one owner prior to me) so I’m surprised it froze up. Went outside and confirmed the 81 is the same. 83 and up are the same as the new one. Unfortunately the earlier one is not available. Will make this one work though :).

Something tells me that Jimmy is looking for ways to prolong the legacy of "the barn" as long as he can.

ha Matt. I am sad about leaving this behind but I’m truly working as fast as I can. Started looking for my next career opportunity the last few weeks so that’s taking several hours a day as well. Being a “one man show” really slows down the process. Never realized how much crap I’ve collected :). As I mentioned earlier I’ve have had some great help from Cim, Coop and Casey which has been huge. These guys have been priceless.
But to your point, I’m not gonna be disappointed if I’m here a bit longer :). At least I should make roundup this year.

Mark, that’s an interesting point about the “gear pattern rule” in Japan. I was wondering why this sticker is on the console. Also, you can see my shifter knob that that the PO installed.

It’s the theft deterrent sign. Manual transmission. The Lojak sign for those “automatics” thugs.

More progress. Got the 40th up and going. Had to flush the fuel, change the pump and she runs great. Could. Use a new tank. Had a really nice one out of one we cut up but it’s disappeared. Anyone have a clean spare 80 tank...if so I’m interested. The silver 86 model is next. Has a blown head gasket but runs. Gonna flush the fuel and add stabilizer. The I’ll load it with parts.

He has just enough to be shy of “just one more, that should do it”. Like all of us 🤣🤣🤣

Another good day. Spent the night at Casey’s @POTATO LAUNCHER last night. Took some creative measures but we were able to pull this tub off the trailer. Picked it up in CO ( I’m a sucker for 60 tubs) and was the hardest one I’ve ever experienced getting on a trailer. With some clever thinking on Justin’s @40justin part we got her on. Of course I have to include Casey’s traditional salute.

It's easier when the chassis and body are delivered to the new owner on a set of axles, but it does take a bit of time and ingenuity to safely remove the axles out from under the chassis with it already on the trailer. We had some experience in Lubbock doing just that 👍.

I am going to put a hold on cold weather work for a bit Jimmy, at least until Colorado warms a bit. You keep bringing the cold back down.
The springs and frame was cut with a sawzall John @4Cruisers making it near impossible to move it without a chain, some steel building purlins and a floor jack.
The wet weather may have helped it slide some also.
