Thanks for taking on Travis's monster. I'm excited to see it done. Last year we stopped somewhere in colorado and a place let us walk into the beer cooler fridge to cool the dogs off. It was too much without AC.

Not much activity in the barn since SAS9. And not actively pursuing side work. But as I always say, “I’ll take a boxed in job on a 60 series”. Meaning jobs like a 5-speed upgrade, suspension, knuckles etc. Minimal risk of the “black hole” syndrome creeping in. And then the owner has to be wide open on the timeline. Enter a really cool retired guy in San Antonio that found me through my brother. He’s an avid car collector and has two 60’s. He’s owned several and bought his first one brand new at a dealer in 1987 and admits he really did not know what he was getting into. He just knew he loved Toyotas as his first new car purchase after law school in the early 70’s was a Corolla. Right now he has a 87 and 85 FJ60. The 85 has been getting refreshed up in CO at Proffitt’s. He just bought this Copper Metallic 87 with 140k from an estate in Oregon. He’s asked me to put in a H55, new OME light suspension, knuckles and TRE’s. As well as a few smaller jobs. Here’s a few pictures of the 60 and t-case build onto the H55. Also, he’s so “old school” the only way he could pay me for parts was to mail me a check :). We agreed to meet the other day so he could give me a check and he showed up in this killer 75 pickup that his mother bought brand new for his father. He’s a really cool dude.

That's a sweet little Datsun! Glad to see you are in the barn at least a little, it is great therapy to counter our other careers, lol.
I am still hoping for a return to your neck of the woods before the year is out (gotta make a parts pick up run) , so hopefully I will get to see you then!

I will be disappointed if you don’t hit the guest room for a night. Would be great to have you here. I believe I still have a bottle with your name on it in the cabinet

I might need to bring a fresh bottle. I think @ceylonfj40nut killed the last one🤣

You kinda got me hooked on the DeWars White Label. The bottle @bottombracket gave you😉

You’ll love me on brown liquor. Invite me.
I won’t take up any room, I’ll just be dirt napping under a random cruiser cuddling with an old snake skin shed.

Can I say something? That is not a selling point, that is a safety warning (based on my experience with Ian and brown liquor on his NM land last year).
I suppose “love” should be italicized.

Case halves went together like butter. Have never seen anyone else do this using the old idler shaft to hold the thrust washer in place within the inside of the back case half. May not even be necessary but I always fought that washer slipping out of place while mating the case halves. Also added two new indent springs.
