What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I feel like I should buy a Metaltech cage if I ever take a road trip down their way... they are far superior to the modified stock cage I've currently got. Frame tie inns are a higher priority first though.

Installed 12V outlet + dual USB port. I don’t smoke - so I don’t need an ash tray.

Frame galvanized and delivered to powdercoater. I'll be damned if Chicago street salt wears out this frame quickly!

Note: Galvanizer was AZZ in Joliet, IL. Below 2000 lbs, it's $450 + tax + $6 environmental fee

@kbahus That's a good question, I didn't really ask since I had already sandblasted it for $400 prior to getting some welding work done (Redi-Strip for sandblasting > Suburban Welding & Steel for a few modifications > AZZ for galvanizing > Advance Enamel for powercoating in case people in Chi-area care). I don't think they had sandblasting on site that I saw, it was super industrial and setup for dipping new stuff.

Installed OME 2.5" suspension kit from cruiser outfitters this weekend. Pretty straightforward even for us mechanically naive types. I never would have guessed that the biggest PITA would be disconnecting the steering damper from the center arm? Holy sh#t that was brutal, probably moreso than necessary since I didn't want to start pounding on it with a pickle fork, after just rebuilding the center arm pivot mount. Anywhoo... all well that ends well; had a nice shake down ride in the sunshine. The upgrade was to allow clearance for larger tires and sort out some wandering issues- hopefully getting my castor angle closer to spec. Rides fine, cruiser lean is gone, and I like the stance and the clearances with 235/85 16's. Only thing left to do is celebrate with a cold one. Cheers

Upgraded my winch hooking mechanism for safety sake. Here’s a before and after picture.

Upgrading my wheel studs to 9/16” on the Fj62 front to match the 14b rear so I only need one set of lugnuts.

And it still works with stock Toyota wheel centers...

For some reason the monday updates are always the best!!!

Nice weekend work everyone!

Did an eyeball fit check of the new parts, rear floor, rear sill, rear sill cover, & quarter panel corners. Thought about making a simple rotisserie for the tub. Did a bunch of other stuff around the house. Maybe I'll get serious this week and do a little cutting and prep work so I can start welding in the new stuff.

If you have a spare tire carrier that will bolt to your new sill test that fit also. My mistake--after getting everything welded in to place my spare tire carrier would not hang straight. Had to do some fab work on the carrier to fix the misalignment.

Got my gas tank back yesterday from the radiator shop. They said that somewhere along the line, there was a half assed attempt at lining the tank and it was all delaminating. Had the cruiser running a couple of weeks ago after a carb rebuild and it felt great. Punched it, and she then slowly sputtered and died. Carb bowl and filters completely bone dry - waited 5 minutes, cranked and drove a couple hundred yards before the same thing. This was how my drive home went for about 30 minutes. New fuel filter completely clogged

Anyway, dropped the tank (PITA!!), took it to have it cleaned and relined, got a new sending unit, gaskets, cleaned the fuel pick-up, blew out all of the hard lines, and replaced every soft line...tank back in as of last night and currently finishing the last odds and ends before I try this again. Fingers crossed! Thanks to @Racer65 for the parts, info, and just for putting up with me (and the USPS).
Also thanks to Cruiser Corps for parts and great service -

No worries. It's a 64 so the carrier mounts to the body and the latch retainer is the only part that mounts to the sill.
