and for my 40, I bought more parts

Went out at night and slapped on some chains on to see how far we could get. The snow had melted all day so it was crusty on top and kind of dense and mealy. Tried them on the rear first and headed up the mountain road. When we couldn't get any further I backed down a ways and we put the chains up front for comparison. The rear seemed to work a bit better because having them up front we could not get any flotation and the front tires would dig in sinking the truck. We got a good ways though and had some fun doing it. Were getting set up to do some winter camping and this was a test run.

Now that I know they clear all 4 wheels I'm going to get another set.

then the next morning I put her to work picking up a load of fire wood. My "helper" will be 2 this week. Pretty sure I exceeded the .5 ton load rating here. Gotta love the medium wheel base....

Is that a pic of a 25?

No it is a 1962 FJ40 Factory Soft Top, the first 3 years of the FST FJ40 had those "S" type door openings. Just as the FJ25 FST had.

My mom's car broke down yesterday and she was complaining she's stuck at home and has stuff to do today, so I told her I'd bring the cruiser over and she could use it for a few days... she laughed at me. Whatever... her loss. :)

found out that my secondary isnt opening:mad: time for some diagnostics

Completed my first project on my recently purchased 76 FJ40. New thermostat, housing bolts, and gaskets. Was going great until a bolt decided it didn't want to stay in one piece. Replacing....easy. Replacement parts...hard. Can happily say its put back together and more importantly, I now have a go-to bolt and supply store.

Not this week, but a while back someone posted a link to this SmittyBilt Hitch Step, so I bought one. They were $9 shipped. You'll have to dig up the link. I suspect it was a mistake??

There's a dude on sfbay craigslist making and selling a very similar receiver hitch to this one that doesn't drop quite so far.

Pulled the plugs on the new '62, poured some Marvel Mystery Oil down each cylinder and hand-cranked it over...smooth as silk!
Scraped the gunk off the the engine number, compared it to the service manual, confirms that we have the original engine. This is getting good.
