Embarrased about the copious amount of black smoke under heavy acceleration or going up-hill, I took the BJ to have its fuel pump serviced. About $260 USD later, new injectors, new seals, and a lot of other bits and I now have a clean burning 30 year old 3B!

Sweet, does it feel any different to drive?

Right now im wire wheeling 3 old colors of paint and bondo off the body for a quick rattle can job. The fenders, hood, sides, and bib are off.
Then ill figure out why i have a dead battery...again...even when disconnected overnight.

Your battery is dead.:frown:

Just pulled my 3 speed and bolted up my NV4500 with 4 speed TC! Wow what a heavy trans, now I just have to fab a cross member for support and get my drive shafts changed. I'm pumped to have a 5 speed.
Nxt project rear bumper tire holder, soft top roof rack, and Holley projection TBI.

Got my 40 pretty close to road worthy. Started right up and idled fine and I'm ready to drive it and will finish at my house when I feel like it.

I dropped the naked 2F in is natural habitat with a strap passing trough 2nd and 5th cylinder, to reinstall front oem mounts to frame on my 73' Fj40. Bought the landcruiser last year with a 350 chev in it, had to rebuild interior of frame to be ready for stock mounts... now its coming to life in is natural state before snow starts to fall... Front mount original width clearance 24"1/16... i got 7/16 of extra clearance... Starting to prep for reinstallation. Also stripped complete wiring harnesses, starting from scratch with modern fuses, new wires plus a custom relay board to distribute amperage efficiently. Also to let you guys know, this is my very first post on IH8Mud... Hope to enjoy it! Pics will be available coming in before the end of the week!

Awesome man !! I's all about the pics. what state are you in?

oh no!!! Please don't cut those fenders!!!

Too late! Actually, the BJ42 has larger rear fenders, so we used my friend's 42 as the template, transfered it to my 40 and cut! We just finished the painting today - which didn't turn out as nice as I had hoped as I now have a couple of paint runs! I'll have to wait until the paint is fully dry and sand them out - not a big problem really.

As for the original fenders, they are only metal, so I can make some new ones if needed. That's the beauty of these things - at the end of the day, they are made of metal, so you can replace anything!

Getting it ready for a trail ride in Cloudcroft, NM Labor Day weekend. Have installed new radiator, hoses, windshield wipers, hood bumpers, rack-mounted backup lights, glued the headliner back up, and prettied up some accessories with paint. Oh---also ordered a Warn winch.

Man I wish I could make it up there for a ride! I grew up in Capitan nm and still have all my family there, but now I'm in TX where it is Hot and no mountains. Have fun and enjoy the cool summer mountains.

Agreed when I saw the post, grew up in EP and spend a lot of time in the Lincoln National Forest. Austin is cool, just a different kind of cool. Miss the mountain desert.

Left my 40 at home and went for some hardcore stuff in the Malaysian Rainforest with some friends. The track had not been used for around 12 years, so we had to cut our way through and re-build bridges. 2km from the end, the road had collapsed and despite our best efforts to dig a new road from the side of the mountain, the 300 feet drop made it a little unsafe!

The 40's are KINGS in the jungle!
