So I rented a radiator and cap test kit and found out that my coolant is leaking at the drain plug on the block. I believe I still have a small leak more so on the passenger side but can’t determine yet weather it’s from the same leak on the plug.Plan on getting the UV dye today.
I've been hitting some more spicier trails lately. Threw in a Spartan up front and got around to the u-bolt flip kits while I was into the front end.

There’s a learning curve involved. If you have a spare Birfield and locking hub with you when you go out, the learning curve is less painful.I’m curious on the Spartan up front.
I’ve been thinking of pulling the lunchbox from the rear of mine and installing it in the front at a later date.
@FJ40Tiger this is an old post, but I can't help but wonder where you got this Toyota add from 1971 featuring late model wheels..... the picture must be doctored up with someone elses rig???
Yeah, over the years that back sill holds moisture, dirt and mud and rust out really badly. Mine was not as bad as that. I cleaned mine, and epoxy primed and painted from the back side. So, it hopefully stays non-rusty in the future. What’s in here?

The sill was this rotten when the PO bought the truck 33 years ago. Having the auxiliary tank back there stopped it from getting worse, but the damage was done. Fortunately, the top and bottom were still basically intact. All I had to do was attach them to fresh metal.
@letterman52 can you provide a little more detail? Which firmness and thickness do you recommend / did you use for your 40 series refoam work? No point in trial and error when there are good resources on Mud. Thanks!I’ve found bestway foam has the firmest stuff for sale.

@ChargedFZJ can I ask what you used for engine managment and do you think the 1uz can be sufficently moved forward to accomodate the extra length of an h55 in a late model 40 series (1982) while keeping the t-case in its stock location? Thanks!!!!!Awesome, thanks for the details!
