What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I only run a bikini top and sometimes a soft back window panel that uses the rollbar. I'm constantly watching the weather for days I can drive my 40 to work and such. I live in Southern Ohio and there always seems to be a threat of popup thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening in the summer. I was going to cut down a pair of bestop full soft doors and turn them into 2 piece doors, so I can easily store them in the 40. I happen to be watching the classified ads and a pair of 2 piece Kayline doors popped up and was able to make a deal. I didnt want to run the stk hinges and pins on these doors, so I made my version of quick hinges. This way I can easily slide them on. They'll keep me some what dry. Now I have to disect the uppers to repair and re-sew the zippers.

I found mine at O'Reilly's. Closer and cheaper than OEM, seems to work.

Took the Pig out for a run, it's been a while and I had things to check. Filled the tank with the good stuff and washed the windshield at the cheapest gas in town and drove around on the uphills and downhills. There are no flat roads around here. Exercised the secondary and hit some moderately high RPMs. Water temp never exceeded 180F. Ambient temp 80ish. Tried to simulate a trail condition by finding a long uphill with no traffic, put it in low/low 1st gear and crawled it at 1200 RPM for about 1/10 mile. Temp went up 5 degrees.
But, the big news; parked it in it's usual spot and threw a pretty new slab of cardboard under the engine right away. Checked an hour later and there's hardly any oil drips! Couple visible drips might just be the Fluid Film that I laid on pretty thick.
After the new oilpan and valvecover gaskets I am very pleased.

I have always viewed it as marking its territory. The SR71 leaked fuel like a sieve while on the ground and they only cost like $350,000,000 in today's money and $200,000 an hour while off the ground.

FP block off plate for a sniper, bolts are a little long but fortunately not long enough…..

Oops, UPS just showed up, more Rubithon prep.
I had ordered new seat belts a while back, my old Simpsons were old and stiff and moldy. I ordered some that I thought would be comparative, they were not. The release action was stiff, the adjusters were sloppy, I just did not like. Went back to the same old stuff and I'm happy again.

Do you coat it with anything?

You can glue it to the head (makes a dam to prevent leaks) or glue it the cover. Make sure the surfaces are clean. The cover needs to be flat as possible

I do. I glue the gasket to the valve cover, this time I used a Permatex gasket sealant, then a couple fingerfuls of wheelbearing grease between the gasket and head.
One of these days I'm going to try gluing the gasket to the head.

No.
Yes. It's an early 2F block with a late F head.

I lucked out on the fuel pump block-off. Mosley Motors Sniper kit had it sorted out way before I could screw it up…perfect fit. I also used Permatex on the valve cover gasket but it has a raised center ridge and fits nicely in the grooved base of the valve cover and is dry as a bone. The new gasket ain’t cheap for this version
