Rather than a timing light— I say buy a cheap carburetor online and slap it on and then you know if it’s the carb. Useful to have when you’re rebuilding your existing carburetor— if needed.
That might work or the carb that you get may have problems as many do right out of the box.
At a certain point you have to know what it is that you're doing and work according to the facts.

I'm reminded of an old adage that I find true more times than not... "90% of carburetion problems are solved in the ignition system".

Got the bench seats in. If I’m being honest, I love the look, but don’t *love* the seats. The driver seat is about 2-3” lower than my previous seats, they are squishy, the driver seat bottom is smaller than the previous seat I had so it is kind of like balancing (I’m not a big guy…170lbs) and they are slippery. Maybe I will get used to it. I might have to figure out a way to raise the driver seat. Passenger seat is fine and not as squishy to sit in. It feels different driving bc I’m so low. But they look good….lol.

Too funny, I’m going through the same thing. Just got mine done and very happy with the aesthetics of it and the height differential doesn’t bother me, but it’s like driving on a trampoline 😂 I usually try to tension the seat belt as much as possible and lock it.

Still sorting thinks out…. So far with less than 60 miles on a brand new, 12 year old engine, I’ve replaced both the oils pan gasket as well as the valve cover gasket - hopefully that fixes the leaks.
I’ve been trying to find a spot to flex it so I can check clearance- found the tire rubs the exhaust pipe - get to trim some more.
The good news is that 33” tires clear no problem. I’m not sure what the springs are but seems to ride decent and I almost flexed to the bump stop, again, pleasantly surprised

Looking good, springs appear to be Old Man Emu light duty.

Years ago I had 4"BDS springs that were military wrapped on both ends and I think hell for stout springs are too.

Tackled the restoration and rebuild of a Toyota OEM factory starter part number 28100-60041. The NipponDenso part # is 028000-236.

Vapor honed nose case, powder coated field coil housing, new denso armature, clutch, field coil, brushes etc. All insides are new or were in new condition for rebuild. These parts are difficult to source.

Got my running lights temporarily working again after replacing the license plate lights. Turns out one of the terminals at the fuse block is the culprit. Going to need to replace the fuse block now. Got that fixed at work, so I was able to drive home in the rain yesterday.
I had added some door gasket at the upper rear corners of the doors. They or the body must be misaligned since the there is a gap between the body and door upper corners. The added gasket seemed to be working, no rain coming in on the drive home. Then noticed water dripping from under the dash again. Had ground out about half the sealant from the hood to windshield joint and re sealed it last fall. Seemed to have worked, until yesterday. Now have to track down that leak.

New steel wheels painted up base/clear. I wanted something a bit darker than stock similar to the Fjco wheels. Thanks @Jdc1 for the info on painting them. Should look good once mounted.

I’m not a painter but the stand is great as is the color

Installed mirrors, OEM mirrors and arms are from city racer. Went with the convex mirrors and like them. I debated the location I chose, which required me to drill holes, vs mounting them on the windshield hinges as most do but went with this and like the look.

Also installed skyjacker 2.5” springs, new shackles/pins, 4 degree castor shims, and new shocks. Front is the same height as my old mystery springs, but the rear is a little higher. Hopefully they’ll settle / break in some once I get a little more weight on the back.

Coolant system refresh is under way.
Made some block off plates for the water pump and thermostat openings in the block then added a new style block drain.
IMG_6499.jpeg

The large drain fitting on the left is the stock 40 drain, then a stock 60 drain and the new style on the right. Put the part number there for any one interested in getting one. Same part number works for both the 40 and 60.

I also added a lower hard pipe to replace the early style coolant hose. Mine had the hose bracket missing so this was an easy solution from a later 2F.

Next step is to fill with vinegar & let sit for a couple of days.

Are you filling just the block with vinegar or heaters too (whole system). I’d be leery of vinegar in the heaters in case there was much corrosion and it eats some pinholes in them.

That upgraded drain looks nice, going to be on my list for sure.

Just the block, I have a new heater assembly to install after the block flush
