Inspected my newly installed Carb Cooling Fan. I’m happy to report with this hot New England weather, it turned on for the first time as it was engineered to. I made my own thermo snap switch to activate when the ambient air temp around the manifold reached 170 degrees. NOTE: This fan was retrofitted into my 1976 and it does the job to prevent hard starts.

Wow. Really nice job. Your engine bay looks like a work of art.

Tried to dress up the top of the blower motor housing. The 3 screws with rubber grommets are NLA. Our old ones were looking pretty crummy and the rubber was falling apart.

I found some stainless steel EPDM bonded sealing washers that seemed about the right size.

Definitely not a perfect match to the OE, but overall it seems a satisfactory improvement.

@Green Bean so, do you stay up nights thinking of what you can do in the 40? I have completely disassembled my heater blower and heater coil to install new gaskets is this what you are using ?

Al:
Pretty much you nailed it. I know... I need to get a life. Yes, those sealing washers look like the ones that I used.

Yesterday, I also replaced the 54 year-old horn relay connector that was working just fine, but was looking a bit sad. @Coolerman has the connectors (Thank you Mark).

Old horn relay connector:

Birds of a feather …as they say.

Looking for the same life but frankly, this one will work. @Coolerman will be getting my list as I do an inventory every few days checking over my wiring. At work, we have had to buy complete harnesses for a few of those Isuzu W4 or W3500 trucks. They use this cab and chassis combos for almost anything from delivery box trucks to lunch wagons and more. With these electronic electronic Allison transmissions the connectors seem to fail or corrode on some from poor sealing. BIG $$$.

I have some wire parts from Mark and his work is impeccable.

I always believed after washing my truck…it ran so much better ! You went all in

I am guessing the two brass heater pipes for the rear heater are not found? I was planing on using heater hose but would prefer the brass pipes

Has anyone used alternative metal parts

EXTRA; Got a message from Rob at Mosley…the Hyper Spark components are being shipped…looking forward to that install

While I was doing the left side knuckle job I noticed the drag link was pretty bent! @cruiseroutfit to the rescue with new parts in stock:

Much better! Waiting on a flat head socket attachment to adjust the drag-link. But super happy this is sorted.

WHYD to your Cruiser this week?
Picked up my ‘78 from Torfab, Everett, WA. After a heck of an adventure, which included:

1/ 3 years waiting for a title
2/ 2 dead engines
3/ a 5000 mile roadtrip to pick up and bring back a donor engine from my wife’s grandfathers ‘78
4/ replaced all wheels with steelies and new tires
5/ new starter motor
6/ new handbrake drum
7/ engine transplant, including cleaning up the donor, new seals, new gaskets, and new distributor
8/ drove it properly for the first time in FOUR YEARS

Yeah, this week was a good one!

Quick video of the transplanted engine:
