What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I keep taking these correction builds... I just feel sorry for these customers and feel I need to help... Customer brought this recent build in from another local Redding, CA shop *(shop moved out of state now)* for corrections.

Suspension & shock issues ( 2" higher in front than rear and only 3" of shock travel in the rear on flex- procomp front and rancho rears) Will be replacing with Dobinson IMS shocks , brake lines were hard mounted and rubbing through at frame and knuckles, starting ( ignition ) issues, rear shock rubbing exhaust, transmission/motor shifted wrong direction on motor/5 speed swap and drive lines are 5-7 degrees off. Front axle needs a minimum of 4-6 degrees to correct caster and toe in was set at over 1/2" with 33" tires on initial inspection.

With my wife’s help to pump the pedal, I finished the first full overhaul of the rear brakes on my LWB in the 29 years that I’ve owned it. Always dodged the full overhaul before by honing the cylinders on the truck.

Made some new brake lines while I was at it. And for that, I give thanks to MUD. I learned about both the Nicopp tubing and the flaring tool from this forum.

Got a couple of photos of my fj40 on expired portra 160 vc 220 film with my fujigw690III. Film was certainly stored well!

Very small waves but ended up being fun!

Funny, scary story. When I bought the truck in ‘94, it was only 30 miles away, and I insisted on having it towed to the shop even though it drove.
I had a customer at the time who wanted to help out at the shop and earn credit towards parts, so I had her take the tires and brake drums off the truck so I could inspect them.

When I started pulling out wheel cylinder pistons, puffs of dust came out with each one.

Bored with a few carbs laying around and my suspicion is right, a late 69-74 carb lid fits and lines up with all ports on a 75-87 carb body. Which means to me, you can make a hybrid to fit the early air cleaner to a late ROW carb and still use your early choke.

Forgive me if this is known, but I’ve never seen anyone try it or apply it. It’s not important or applicable for most but neat to know for myself, hopefully someone can make sense of it. This way you don’t have to hack up an air cleaner or bracket to fit it all.

Don’t mind the picture, I had it resting for the pic, should’ve bolted it down to make it clear. Gaskets and bolt holes all align as they should.

Passed inspection this week!!!!! And ordered a new gas tank to eliminate the flow of rust. looking forward to receiving and installing that soon.

We love Mamacita's we go almost every Tuesday. Good to know there is a fellow cruiser guy near by. Maybe we can meet up for tacos and toyotas one night.

Thanks. I’m gonna have to investigate these. I’m sure I could probably figure a way to attach 40 hubcaps.

They come in two varieties: ribbed (for her pleasure) and non-ribbed. I have had them on all my trucks for like forever.

I posted a pic of a setup I did on a 60 about a decade ago where I moved the choke cable across the steering column and used the pod on the drivers side for the guage. Came out factory clean.
