For our 1970 FJ 40: installed a 2-1/2" OME Light/Medium suspension kit from Cruiser Outfitters. Sprayed Liquid Wrench on all pins and connections for a few days prior. Did one corner at a time starting with driver’s front. I had read horror stories about the difficulties encountered when removing old pins and bushings. Surprisingly, none of the bolts were too difficult. Used a little heat on a couple; and a 5# sledge was able to knock out the old pins without too much consternation. Had to use sawzall to cut 2 of the M8 bolts holding the front fixed pins. Turned out that those bolts were stripped. For the install of the new leaf springs, I started with the shackle, then did the rear fixed pin and concluded with the u-bolts to the axle. A liberal use of grease on all new bushings and pins helped with assembly. Without a doubt, the most challenging aspect of this project was doing this solo. It takes a lot of going back and forth with the floor jack lining up the fixed pins and the perch pins for the axles. I did one wheel at a time, which was not the most efficient but I feel it helped with the safety aspect of having the vehicle safely with 3 wheels on the ground at all times. The 2-1/2" OME Light/Medium kit from Cruiser Outfitters seems like a really good kit. It was packed really well on a pallet and arrived with no damage. Everything was pretty much plug & play. I had to tap one of the threads on a shackle because the threads were slightly damaged from manufacturing, but that was it. For anyone contemplating this, a pair of high lift jack stands is really helpful along with a good stout floor jack. Total time spent was about 16 hours with breaks (a lot of that was me looking around for the tool or part that I just had but was now mysteriously missing). Definitely, noticed the efficiency improved with each leaf spring. (Unfortunately, however, the forgetfulness did not improve). Measurements: After installing springs & shocks: Front driver’s side + 1-7/8"; Front passenger side +1-3/4"; Driver’s rear +3-1/4"; Driver’s passenger side +2-3/4". I had purchased a block from CCOT that is supposed to fix the cruiser lean, but decided not to use it since it would have entailed taking the rear driver’s side spring pack apart to put in the new bolt/pin. The FAQ on Cruiser Outfitters sys to allow things to settle, so I will wait a bit. There is still about a 1" lean. I still need to tap one of the M8 holes to secure the passenger side fixed pin. For some reason the hole in the plate does not line up with the threaded hole in the frame.
For what application? Manifold or ???
Exhaust manifold. I got a replacement head, but the holes for the new head were M10, and the exhaust manifold had M8.
Thanks, that's what I thought. It took me a while to piece together the parts needed for installing 3FE exhaust manifolds on a '76 2F with a '71 F intake manifold.
Mine was a B manifold to a 3B head
