Sounds like a good dealer to plug in the part number for the H55F. Little I've checked prices very greatly. Good price and free shipping/no tax would be a win win win. Looks like their price is under.$2,500. Probably also holds true with any heavy items.

Thanks! Close, it's an '80. Today was the first time taking her "off road" since buying her in July. It was fun laying a trail of mud clumps on the pavement for 100 feet after taking this pic!

Actually, there is a car wash just a few blocks from the elk field, so I just stopped in and hosed her off before anything dried! Hey... we could be twins! I have my craigslist 8274 all torn down and cleaned up. Just need to order parts and I'll get that on the truck too.

Thanks for that suggestion. I have one of these I had planned to install, but I do like the stock look and I'm still not sure I will flat tow it (which was the primary reason for a shackled bumper).

I installed a hefty pair of tow bar brackets on the front bumper of my '76 FJ40. I've flat towed it on numerous long trips, including this year's Solid Axle Summit. They're made by Curt.

I'd really like to hear more about your flat towing experience. My truck still has around zero front caster, so I'm thinking I should get it to at least +2 or +3 degrees before trying flat towing.

Original stock suspension with BFG 30X9.50R15s, with toe-in per FSM. No idea of what the caster is. No issue flat towing behind either my '01 2500HD regular cab long bed w'8.1L gas engine and ZF-6 6-speed manual or my '09 2500HD crew cab long bed w/Duramax and Allison automatic. Better with the '09, plus it has the tow/haul mode. Routinely drive 70 mph or so.

Got my annual Texas state inspection. Passed, as usual, $7. Some of the guys at Inspector Quick had never seen one.

It really helps to have a full size truck as a tow vehicle. Longer wheelbase a big plus. Same with a more powerful engine. I love the 496 cubic inch big block in the '01 Silverado .

As usual, your work is a thing of beauty. This Forum is lucky to have you and all of your expertise. On your new voltage regulator in the photo, there is a green plug-in connector. Do you also sell both pieces of that connector for folks that are replacing an old one mounted on firewall that seems to be missing the plug-in pigtail?

Ordered a HG250B - 2.5 lb. Black Halguard Clean Agent Car Fire Extinguisher to keep in the LC. Can't really see a great place to mount it within easy reach and where it doesn't obstruct ingress and egress. I'm considering mounting it to the inside fender well under one of the jump seats. One problem is that it won't be very quick or easy to get to it in case of emergency. But I'm hoping that I never have to use it. HG250B - 2.5 lb.
