Started repair of rusted driver floorboard. Discovered additional area that was held together with paint. Cut out the bad and will repair It all as I put it back together.

the cruiser lean is a known factory issue. in fact Toyota used to have a fix kit for it that was sent out to dealers. I may still have the directions somewhere. but they no longer provide it.

I've parted out a few 40's thru the yrs. I believe these plates are Toyota's cure for cruiser lean

Tested out the front axle overhaul with a 500 mile adventure that included over 150 in the dirt.

With the help of a leaking input shaft seal, my clutch decided it had enough.
That feeling you get when you put your gearbox in and are just fitting the tailshaft and notice the thrust bearing retainer clips sitting on the hoist.......

I found this sweet radiator mount from a PO.

needless to say I’ll be dealing with it since it is part of my clearance issue with my new radiator and electric fan.

time to do some searching on the site to look for creative mounting options you all have already come up with.

Thanks Tom. Of the four rigs I have built up for myself over the last 40 years (K5:1980-1994), Ruftoys(1985-2007) , the SWB45(1992-1993) and the LWB45 (1994-2007), this is the one that has given me the most pleasure to drive. Each one has been a canvas for my imagination.

Installed year appropriate winkers. I liked the early 70s looks, but these are correct.
Also installed castor shims. Steering is better for sure.

Oh and tossed in some LED dash bulbs.... waaay better!!

Had a situation earlier this year where a man driving a new Lincoln passed me as I was turning left. He actually created a new left turn lane and went between a big yellow school bus and my 40. I tried to miss him but vowed if that ever happened again I would be ready. If only the bull bar was longer I would have torn the rear right quarter panel off that Lincoln.

So here is what I did.

Removed 4 Plus Products Bull Bar from the front of my 40. It is very well made and quite heavy and has looked good and served me well on the front of the 40 for about 3 to 4 years. Sadly the powder coat was looking dull and rust was starting to pop up under the powder. I took it to a local welding shop to have 10 additional inches added to each side.

Before:

After:

The photo makes it look wider than the truck but it is still about 2" short on each side of being as wide as the fenders. The addition was angled back at a 10 degree angle and has been boxed in the back and ends for extra strength. I planned to get a winch and have a new bar built by 4 Plus Products with the additional 10 inches added but the winch idea fell through.

wow. I've never seen real ones! just read the reports. a long shim and longer u bolts. on the higher side.

Getting more miles on her. She is breaking in nicely. Found that the leaky valve cover gasket was due to it not being seated properly. There was a 7 inch area midway along the driver's side that the gasket was pushed in leaving that area unsealed...!
Anyway, installed new one and it's nice and sealed up. No leaks.
Poser pics...

Pics taken at water front park in West Salem between the highway 22 bridge, and the old railroad bridge that's been converted to a bike and ped bridge.
