how did you know the fuel was boiling?

Yes, strong fuel smell at the rear quarter of the car. It wasn't boiling necessary, but there was enough vapor pressure that it was escaping from the charcoal canister vent.

Since i got an brand new ARB double compressor for cheap on ebay (250€…) I had to think about a place to mount. I didn’t wanted to have to pull long cables so it had to be the engine bay behind the airbox since my 200 is a diesel. After some research there are only companies in overseas who produce mounting plates an this absolute overpriced in my opinion (incl the problem that most US companies who do offroad stuff are not willing or simply too stupid to send overseas while this is never a problem from any other parts of the world…) bc with shipping and import taxes I’ll end in the high 300s or at least low 400s for some bit of metal.

So I made the decision to build my own plate 😅
Got a plate with a dimension of 500x500mm and did a little bit of cutting and bending. After an hour I was happy with the result and sprayed a bit of paint.
Now I have to wait for the manifold after I found out it is needed for the double compressor (a shame ARB only put the most most most basic stuff into this oackage) and the I can mount everything. 👍

Just installed OEM cross bars in order to put roof rack there. Hesitant to drop headliner in order to install roof rack.

Finally replaced the power cable to my slide out fridge. Been wanting to do this for ages.
Replaced this bulky coiled cable with ARB cable guide.

Wasn’t sure which way to mount. A few options. Ended up attaching a bracket to ADGU frame and screwed end of the cable guide to it.
I have Anderson power connections from main and aux batteries for flexibility.

@Kyle Bell @suprarx7nut I’m loving the ADGU drawers and kitchen slide out!

Hit 60k this week. Spent today in the garage after working 19 straight days. Tire rotation, oil change (switched to 5w-30), lube prop shaft, engine and cabin air filters, front brake pads, SDHQ ABS sensor guards while I had tires off.

Wanted to put in the SDHQ brake hoses I've had on the shelf for a while but FSM says to not reuse the caliper banjo bolts that attach the hoses to the calipers and local dealers didn't have any. Anyone reuse those when they changed their brake hoses? I suppose I'll order online and change them at next tire rotation.

Turbo8 skids should be getting picked up this week so maybe next weekend I'll put those on.

So a tornado went thru the area today, touched down right by the base where my 200 is parked while I’m out doing a field exercise. Friend sent me these pics, says it got hit by hail pretty badly. Going to see it in person tomorrow, not happy!

Oklahoma destroyed my vehicles when stationed there. Feel your pain man.

That sucks!

PDR will fix that right up, no paint needed, and no hit on car history. You can often find PDR shops that will waive up to the first $1,000 of deductable, too.

and no hit on car history.

I'm curious about this part.. the thought is if PDR is sufficient to get the car back into shape there isn't risk of future issues meaning no report needed?

Can I see a photo from the tailgate end with the fridge extended and another partially retracted? I need to do this with my ADGU system with homemade slide and NL fridge.

Thanks!

What about when they drill into door jams to avoid removing door cards and headliners? Smiliarly, if they remove door cards, panels, or headliner? Introducing risk possibly

Yes, exactly.

I think the rationale is that if no paint damage has occurred (including during repair), then the damage was so minimal and the original paint being intact means no risk of peeling (unlike a respray), so that it's justified to keep it off the vehicle history. This might vary per state, of course. In Texas, I had my insurance pay for PDR to repair hail damage on my Mazda, and it did not go on the vehicle history.

Regular body shops, on the other hand, don't seem as well equipped to do PDR and pretty much everything they do will likely end up on the vehicle history.

Above all that, PDR is just so much faster, cheaper, and with better results than other options.

I would hope that drilling is not the norm and would not count as legitimate PDR... I have a friend with a PDR business (and a 200-series LC), and I'll ask him.

They removed pretty much all my Mazda's interior cards, panels, and headliners. Maybe there's some risk with that? But I personally don't think it justifies being reported.

Yeah, no it won't. Sadly I've lived here long enough that this is the 3rd SUV I've owned that's been hit by hail, so I've got a really good idea what PDR can and can't do. PDR will take care of the stuff on the doors, but this will need a new hood, roof, fenders, maybe the hatch and at least one C pillar/3rd quarter panel.

Since it's a low mileage 2018 I doubt it'll get totaled, it's worth too much $$$ still. So that'll mean it taking forever to get fixed by the shop and a marked Carfax.
