There may be some improved downshifting logic in response to braking in the 8spd. I can't say that from driving both that it stands out. Perhaps with cruise engaged it does this more.

The higher gearing and flatter curves of the same will do this.

I wasn’t clear, but I meant when on trail. As in 4Lo situations and “crawling” down moderately steep inclines.

In honor of getting to page 1000, I will share some significant work I have put into my LC. This job took all the bananas, and I'm lucky I was able to complete it myself without the tools and experience of a more seasoned mechanic.

New headlights! Brand new Lexus housings, and then modified by TEQ Customs. They are paint matched on the inside, and then have 4 new LED projectors. Doesn't use any of the original lenses so theres no weird patterns or extra blinding light for oncoming drivers. Also added Diode Dynamics fogs that are definitely way too bright for the road, haha.

holy s*** that must have been a nice splurge. I haven't seen any new OEM LX headlights under $1300. Looks sharp and the light output has got to be phenomenal compared to stock

When I convinced my wife that VW was garbage (after her 3rd jetta went haywire for no apparent reason) and she bought her first Acura, grocery bag hangers was the biggest complaint she had. I had no idea such a thing existed.

Be careful in MN. I looked at a couple in Wayzata and they were rusted to crap. The salesman said that they were in excellent condition and that I was being too picky. The interiors were rough also.

You are being to picky!! haha...WTF. The 200/LX570 here do seem to rust more than other equivalent cars for some reason. The one I tested even had the bolts rusted on the declid after lifting it up to inspect. It would have to be exceptional for me to buy anything in MN

Ya wasn’t cheap, but has been on my list for a while. Polishing the old ones just wasn’t cutting it for me. If I remember correctly it was about $1k for the pair of OEM housings.

IMO, the big miss in the Sequoia isn't the gearing, is the lack of a center diff. Had Toyota incorporated this it would be a viable 300 surrogate. Seems like an 'Overtrail' or 'Trailhunter' Sequoia package could fill in for the missing Wagon.

Yes I'm guessing you're referring to the newest iteration... Because the Sequoia had a center diff until its most recent body style change. I believe until 2021 they had it. I know that my 2008 did, and I used the full time 4wd mode (center unlocked) on every occasion I was doing higher speed fsr driving. Made a world of difference in control and stability in the dirt.

Finally got around to adjusting the headlight leveling sensor to account for the lift. It's been a few years that I've been meaning to do it, but I kept forgetting about it until I was already driving at night. Hopefully a lot fewer people will be flashing me when driving at night now.

Yep it's awesome. I took mine out of the garage to wash it and spray the undercarriage with fresh water. Dried it with towels then IMMEDIATELY put it back in the garage. No sense making it dirty right away. I'll probably go out into the garage and just look at it tomorrow.

I actually had my 570 in the mud for the first time this weekend. My mom had an emergency so I pulled off the freeway and tried going through the ditch to the feeder. The ditch was much softer than I expected. Raised the suspension, put her in 4LO, and locked the center diff. It came right out of the hole. Such a capable beast.

My mom was apologetic that I got mud on my truck. I was just excited that it finally got to see some action.

Do you mean 3rd gen Sequoia? Absolutely agreed. What a massive step backward from the gen Sequoia 2 that had basically a LC/LX center diff with locker and the added option of running 2hi.

I meant when the LC/LX got the 8 speed in 2016, why didn’t the 2nd gen Tundra and Sequoia also get it?

Seems like it would have been a no-brainer late generation sales boost.

This looks like the AHC adjustment. I thought the adjustment was behind the light fixture, on a gear that adjusts both. 2015 LX

A few of us replaced the OEM part with something like this. I don’t get flashed anymore after adding.

Replaced the grille and emblem, the old one could only hold a polish for 6 months before getting cloudy again. Bought during one of the big sales and it's been in my garage for at least 3 months.
