Any issues with headlight brightness or aiming on 2016+ models? (1 Viewer)

I think you may have posted on facebook 200 group too? If not, I replied to someone who asked this same question there recently. :)

I have a '16 and don't get an auto leveling dance, and never have.

I've had some vehicles that had a very obvious dance, definitely my Volvo S60R and I think one of my Audi S4s.

Since lifting my rig (2.5"+), I added a Weber carb linkage to extend the leveling rod range, and that worked well.

I definitely miss the ability to manually adjust the headlight level with a dial like I had in my former '13 LC.

Like described before, you will not notice it unless a significant change to the leveler is made with the car off and then turn on close to a wall with headlights on (if it’s daylight). I saw this on my ‘16 multiple times when adjusting…. It’s there you just can’t see it

I hear you. But some vehicles do a dramatic "dance" up and down before settling, aligning the headlight every time you start the vehicle. This is not what my 200 series Land Cruiser does.

I would expect the headlights to adjust based on the setting of the sensor on the rear suspension when the load or arm position changes. That is literally what it is for.

"some vehicles" LC 200's or you mean other makes?

As I said above, I've had a Volvo and an Audi that do the "dance" (not my term). Neither of my 200 series have done this.

So I adjusted the stock rod to the top of it's travel. It's helped but I still need more, so I reached out to TJM. It took them awhile to respond, but they do have the linkage in their US warehouse. Oddly they then asked me for my address for a quote, even though I'd put it in when I requested the quote to begin with. Waiting to get the total so I can buy it and then dial in the headlight level more

Here is another option (the one I used), if the TJM part doesn't work out:

Well, that's 1/3rd the price of the TJM one, so I might just buy the Weber one instead

Do you run your auto hibeams? I’ve had issues after lifting and installing a carb linkage.

Mine act funky.

Nope, I never use that. Almost all my driving is in the metro area, so can't really run high beams ever

I haven't noticed any high beam problems but it is easy to check. Use the Daniel Stern approach that I pasted previously. It has directions for aiming low and high.

Thank you for posting this. I have a 2016 LC with 2" OME lift. Oncoming drivers flash me occasionally. I bought this part from eBay for less than $30 and it worked perfectly. It's a 15 minute job to replace. And for those of you asking, the US spec LC200 headlights do the "dance" but only when necessary. I have never seen mine auto-adjust, but I did as soon as I powered up the truck after adding this part. Problem solved.

Read through this and think I have the gist but two questions as I just had a lift installed and now need to drop my beams....

#1. This is current bracket placement - looks like they are already aimed as HIGH as they can go? So for a 2.5 inch lift, just loosen and get bolt to the other side of the open space? If that's not enough, get/build aftermarket?

#2. Buddy has a snap-on tool that seems to offer headlight aiming and adjustments similar to techstream - think that would be the same thing?

Many thanks!
