What have you done to your 100 Series this week? (61 Viewers)

I finally got around to applying some sound dampener to the rear cargo area and I'm very curious to see how this lowers the road and exhaust noise.

Last year I picked up two full boxes of Noico sound deadener for free from a very generous 80 Series owner in town (@effjay80). The boxes have been sitting in my garage and I have been putting this off for a quite a while now, but the weather was great and I was bored. I think it turned out rather nice.

(Don't mind all the dog noses on my rear windows, cleaning those is next on the list!)

How much of a difference did this make for noise? Definitely thinking of doing this.

The difference was surprising, I can hear the engine and headers now from the front/under my feet and no longer my exhaust from the rear. I don't have any solid numbers on db reduction, but it's definitely noticable. So much so I'm considering pulling the front seats out and the carpet back to do the front wheel wells and floor with the left over deadener I have. Definitely recommend doing this.

I still haven't cleaned the dogs noses off my windows though...

Made some longer (1.5") heavy duty rear swaybar links to match the lift.

Nice work!

Could you tell a difference after installing the lengthened sway bars ? Did you also replace your bushings while at it ?

Im genuinely interested, I've been debating this exact mod.

Why do most people only do the rear ? I would assume the front would benefit as well.

Just did the mod so I have no drivers feedback yet but because the bar is flatter in theory it should be firmer.
Bushings had been replaced not long ago and I used them.
The rear has a lot more travel then the front so you will benefit more. I do plan to address the front also when the swaybar bushings get replace.

^ Trail Tailor offers extended front and rear links for 100 series.

:wrench:Replaced rack and pinion, outer tie rod ends, UCAs (stock), alignment, front brake job, spark plugs, serpentine belt, and an oil change...:wrench: $800 in parts, $1200 in labor and she drives tighter than a drum! Ready for 50k more miles till next major service... :bounce2:

Did a little wheeling in Joshua Tree National Park. We entered the park by way of the Berdoo Canyon Rd from the south and left the park going north on Old Dale Rd. Haven't done this in several years but it was fun. Nothing too challenging. Didn't even air down. Some photos were a little blurry when we found the camera was not in autofocus mode.

"Ill-conceived and poorly executed" is how my friend put it when we came upon these two people out on the Old Dale Rd in Joshua Tree. Stupid works too. They were about 5 miles from the paved road in an older front wheel drive Rav4 and tried to go up over a 2 ft berm of soft sand to drive out into the desert and camp. That's illegal in a national park by the way. Anyway, when we offered to help, their first request was to help them complete the task and get over the berm. We politely said no and that we would not be around to get them back out. We tried to push it off but it was completely sitting on the sand. Unfortunately I had a forgotten a tow strap but my heavy duty jumper cables were sacrificed and the LC easily pulled it out. We told them to turn around and go back to the pavement. The road would only get worse from there. I snuck a couple of photos while my friend tied the jumper cables on.

Man, people do some crazy stuff out of their element. I remember something similar, once found a kid in a Hyundai sunk to his frame in mud next to a remote lake.. all I had were ratchet straps but they did the job, barely. Wish I had pictures.

Had the front windows tinted with Viper Ceramic 30. A close match in sunlight, more noticeable difference when cloudy. I would like it a little darker so plan to follow up with a darker tint over top. I suspect the difference will not be as noticeable when darker.

unfortunately the double tint wont help it look more alike. Its still better than the difference of normal tint. take a good look for "viper" water marks on the tint. they rub out easy, but if you tint over it, your screwed ( like my cousin, lol)

Jason from trail tailor makes these for the front and the back. I think $80 / pair? I think most people only do rear to allow it to get that extended articulation. After bending some rear links, I swapped all of mine out. I think its worth it. But its also not something that is a must. I would put it low on the mod list.

I also bought my 05 with 120k on the clock from Jonathan in Dallas, good guy. Yours is a beaut!

Nothing new to this group, but a milestone nonetheless...
