A little outside the box...not what I did to it but what it did to me
: Drove it to Death Valley & Eastern Sierra...camped out of it...returned. Fortunately no drama other than my constant plea for better gas mileage.

^ So far its been a win-win decision going with the Cooper S/T MAXX. But to be fair out of almost 2k miles last weeks DV trip was the first off-road. But they are quieter/less noisy than my former Toyo AT2s, more compliant, better on and off-road handling...just better on all fronts. If the sidewalls are Toyo tough then I'm home.
BTW with my 1" body lift I do get a little tire rub with the 305/70R18 but not a problem...and I'm running without wheel spacers up front.
Same time.Replaced windshield, started died at glass shop -___- Great! Would you all recommend replacing leaking valve cover gaskets while doing the starter? Or waiting on the valve cover gaskets until my nearing 90k (180k) service is done?
Thanks for the reply. I ended up making that decision and it's now underway. The week of rain ahead isn't helping though... In the end, I'll be glad it's all done.Same time.
Had been noticing the steering wheel shimmy for a little while, but it had become progressively worse. So I did the steering rack test, failed miserably ordered the white line steering rack bushing kit. Install went fairly easy, maybe two hours just kind of taking my time. Then less than 24 hours after installing and driving to and from work the rack started to shimmy again.... Thought it might the inner tierods. So I go to replace/inspect those..... My steering rack decided it had had enough and profusely started leaking fluid out both sides almost like an arterial wound... FML, front differential then this. New Toyota rack should be here tomorrow![]()
Just over 169k. It's actually been slowly getting worse for a few months, my daily commute I don't go much over 45 mph ever, so I hadn't noticed much.Ouch. How many miles on your rack?
I had same issues. Also found that a small zip tie helps to keep hose connected to ambient sensor while shoving back in. First time I did this it came off again, hence the zip tie.I replaced my oil pressure sensor to solve it showing virtually 0 psi at idle. Now it never goes below 1/4 no matter how warm the oil is. I also fixed the climate control issue I was having with the cabin temp going from super hot to super cold by reconnecting the interior ambient sensor in the kick panel. Some one prior to me buying it must have accidentally disconnected it.

I had the timing belt changed. I thought long and hard about doing it myself, but I ended up taking it to the Toyota dealer. They gave me a fair price. I also had them replace all the hoses, including the T's.
I'm running a bit low on suspension fluid and the dealer doesn't normally carry it. They have to special order it and its $55. Any suggestions on where to get some online?
Yeah if you are getting extreme hot and cold you've probably got the same issue (or a sensor that has failed all together). It's pretty easy to get to - it's just attached to the back of the trim panel under the steering wheel. You can see the little vent holes for it right underneath the ignition near your right knee.
