I built a platform.

I don’t like the permanence if drawer systems but wanted something I could throw a sleeping pad over and be able to store gear I always keep in the vehicle in an organized manner.

Here is the list:
42”x52” 3/4 plywood
4 10” x1” iron gas pipes, prethreaded
8 1” pipe pedestals
Roll of indoor/outdoor carpet
Glue & staples

Fits right up against the back seats with them in first or second recline position. Very minimal gaps between side of interior and deck itself. Perfectly level for mattress when resting in back of folded down rear seats.

I got 10” high cargo boxes that fit perfectly under the deck for my gear.

A 3’x4’ bungee net is a must. Probably all in <$150 and I can easily remove it if needed.

Hey all, I'm looking for someone in the South Coast Mass area (Boston/Prov/Cape Cod area) who can reset my VGRS system - tried a couple controllers/toyota tech but couldn't get it working. Is there a regional section I can look into?

Cool. I have some hand sketches of building something similar with 80/20

simple and pragmatic! love it :-)

Picked these frim FB market place locally for $1000. Not a big fan of rock warriors but gonna give a try. Came with almost new 285/70R17 KO2s. I'll keep it if I can get rid of spacers currently on.

Another use of the winch. A friend badly wanted to save a treet pulled out from ground a side during Beryl. Straighten it even though I don't know it'll survive.

Where those Rock Warriors in Austin? Did they come with spacers? I think those may have been on my white 100 at some point! :)

Simple setup, nice. But I’m interested in the rubber mat you got there, can you share info on it please.

No, picked up from a Tundra owner.

Started working on some big tasks that I hope to finish before the end of next week. On the docket is an oil change, transmission pan replacement, transfer case rear end R&R along with bearing replacement, heat shielding, replacing charcoal canister, and new headlights. If time permits I’ll also do a full rear end brake job and maybe a fuel pump replacement.

On the transmission I have been monitoring seepage that seemed to be coming from the area where the fipg should have been. Well just removed the bolts and the pan fell down sans any fipg. Seems the previous owner had some work done down there. The mechanic at the time use some cheap felt gasket that was seeping.

I’m guessing the OEM transmission filter isn’t made in China….

Now to investigate further and see what else isn’t OEM in there. Anyone see anything off the bat?

Took a week longer than I hoped, but finished up my big list of tasks which included:
  • Replaced radiator overflow reservoir
  • Rotated tires
  • Engine oil change
  • Lubricated drive shafts
  • Front/rear differential / transfer case oil change
  • Retorqued spark plugs
  • Replaced transmission pan and filter
  • Rebuilt transfer case rear output side
  • Replaced power steering reservoir
  • Flushed transmission fluid
  • Flushed power steering fluid
  • Cleaned transmission fluid cooler fins
  • Replaced charcoal canister
  • Replaced headlights
  • Adjusted passenger fender
  • Heat shielded fuel lines, gas tank, muffler, rear passenger side UCA, rear AC lines, driver side cat, and the cross-over pipe
  • Relocated return fuel line off back of engine
  • Replaced wiper blades
Old headlights are listed in the classifieds if anyone wants some glass ones or wants to use them for a LED/HID retrofit:

You did a lot, good job. FWIW I barely shielded my gas tank and with using ethanol free gas in the Rockies had no issues above 13k ft. With your shielding and ethanol free fuel you’ll be golden.

Thanks! I definitely went a bit overboard on the heat shielding, but I had some extra material so I figured why not. I have noticed difficulty in finding ethanol free fuel consistently so I figured more shielding plus the new charcoal canister would help.

The previous owner of my LX BUTCHERED the FM antenna (and got rid of the mechanism for raising/lowering it) so I figured I might as well upgrade to that fancy satellite radio people talk about... 🤣🤣

I love it. would be hilarious to have the mast a ball and the dish a socket so you can swivel it around LOL

I made the jump from an 80 back into a 100. They both have their pros and cons, apples to oranges and all that. The 100 is just a better fit for my current needs. It’s good to be back!

Now I will start getting it ready for a trip to Moab in November. Small maintenance items (though not much) and a sleeping platform mostly.

I noticed a fuel smell a few days ago when starting the engine, and decided to change the fuel filter first, which turned out to be the cause as I noticed a small leak from the base of the filter, where the L-shaped fuel line comes out of it. I didn't have any service records of when it was changed last so I cut it open to see what condition it was in........definitely needed to be changed...

Also hit 333k miles today.

Got the truck bogged. Proper bogged. As in, rear wheels off ground and space under them to move your hand through. Water over the headlights.

Easy recovery but woke this morning to find front passenger side flat tyre and no obvious protrusions. Swapped with the spare and will get sorted tomorrow. Another timely reminder for me to buy a bloody compressor and puncture kit. (Durrr).

Engine got a little wet, few squeeks and whines today so hopefully that will dry out and shut up.

Spending the day planning a new head unit, reverse camera and speakers. As much as I love the sound the the V8, I need my tunes.

07 LX- Finished timing belt and all the extras. Ended up with new Denso radiator, hoses and clamps, and did the passenger side valve cover gasket. I need to get a set of 07 manuals. I was nervous about the vvti being different than my 2000, but in the end it’s exactly the same timing. I got in there because at the last oil change it looked like it was leaking coolant from the water pump, and sure enough, it was.

Since I’m keeping my AHC, finally got the King KTRS-79s from Australia installed. Did the rear PerryParts bumpstops while I was at it.
View attachment 3722528

And the big one, AHC fluid/globe replacement. Fluid was easy, the globes wouldn’t come off until we started spinning them with a hammer and chisel.
View attachment 3722530

The old fluid was darker than anything I’d seen online, it might be from 1999 and still original to the truck. No records of AHC ever being maintained, but while the ride was a bit bumpy, it still went into H/N/L (slowly) on the 25 year old parts.
View attachment 3722533

Drives like an entirely different truck now, it feels so much more planted on the road and I wish I’d done it sooner. Going to try and calibrate the pressures with TechStream tonight.

Still on the 25 year old bushings, going to try and do the fronts and maybe the rears in a few months if I can get them off without cutting into the body.
I change mine annually...the fluid. But I run around at 7000+ lbs
