I just bought a '99 LX470 (190k) and I've been going through everything and addressing anything that seems suspect:
  • Front and Rear Diff fluid
  • Transaxle fluid
  • Grease drive shaft
  • Transmission filter
  • Cabin filter
  • Coolant
  • Spark Plugs
  • Flog light bulbs
  • Rear light plate bulbs
  • Brake fluid
  • New radiator
  • Installed hitch and trailer wiring
  • Installed roof rack
  • Steering fluid flush
  • Rebuilt OEM Rack and Pinion
  • Sway bar linkages all around
  • All coolant hoses w/ Mitshimoto
  • New Stainless steel coolant T's
  • All vacuum lines
  • Battery
  • New driver's side door handle
  • Removed and washed speaker grills (amazing turnout)
Coming soon: AHC flush & body panel rust removal (top of windshield), then into the things like why are my mirrors not going back to the original position after I put it into reverse then drive. :)

After loosing a flexible solar panel on I70, I replaced it with a solid Renogy.

Installed a cat prevention device, aka ASFIR center skid. I cut down the stock belly pan to use with the aftermarket skid.

I exposed more of the cruisers overseas standard features and installed a pintle on the rear cross member with Toyota fasteners and trim piece.

Dig the trailer harness connector on the bumper. That's on my to do list as well.

Interested in your process for washing the speaker grills. Please share!

  1. Pop off the entire door panel (there's a video walk-through on YouTube),
  2. 4 screws to remove the speaker panels
  3. Rinse in hot water to remove dirt
  4. Soak overnight in a bath of vinegar, water and baking soda to really get it clean
  5. Agitate with hands
  6. Rise and Dry...good as new! (see below)
I took a thread and needle to fix the tears.

Stage 2 complete. Roof rack delete. Ironman bumper installed, painted grill black and amber LED's installed. Also checked and adjusted AHC pressure by cranking the TB's a few turns. This things coming along 😁

Nothing too exciting. Just some OEM tailgate lifts. The old were still working -- just getting a little weak.

Hey how did you route the wires for the solar panel? I am hoping to eventually move to a lithium house battery in the rear of the truck, but really don’t want to put holes in the roof for solar routing.

Or just paint them and be done - easiest mod ever.

I used some actual PV cable (extra UV jacket on each cable) and ran them down the windshield channel to under the hood. Works pretty well and the best part is it required no drilling into the roof. This method wouldn't be the most efficient if your battery is in the rear of the vehicle. My battery and charge controller are on the passenger side, under the hood.

Fixed a bunch of broken wires going to the driver side door, now the seat memory and everything works!

Also, for the first time, the green light around the key lit up, and I swear the AHC is 30% smoother than before. Does that make any sense at all?
