A little cleanup, and some adjusting of "what to buy next" after a pretty good year. 24K this year alone (also my commuter), maybe 5k in dirt—way above average for me.

"What to buy next" is shocks. The OMEs in the front just can't keep up with desert roads (Tough Dogs in the back are so dang good). But y'all knew that. Make a dentist appointment on arrival home if you plan to see the Racetrack Playa in Death Valley. That road is chewed right up.

Oregon and NoCal next. And you can't go wrong just making a track somewhere here in Utah.

What ya planning to put up front to replace the OMEs?

The Tough Dog adjustables, most likely. I'd love to do something like a remote resi shock, but I doubt I'm pushing the truck hard enough to actually notice the difference. My wallet definitely notices the difference though, and I'd rather spend that cash at a fuel stop in the middle of nowhere.

I might be in a small minority—I actually quite liked the OME setup I had. With just the drawers and fridge in the back, the system worked really well. Adding the rear bumper was too much for the medium kit, though, so I took a chance on the Tourflex springs from Trail Tailor, and threw in a couple of the adjustable shocks as well on Jason's advice. Now I've got a HUGE difference between front and rear—the rear handles every single type of terrain I've thrown at it well, and the front...well, leaves a little (a lot) to be desired. Roads are still fine (dirt or otherwise), but as soon as it gets rough like potholes or washboard, the difference is crazy. Like half of my truck is behaving, and the other half just wants to wet the bed.

I hear ya.
I've run the OMEs for about a 100K and its time for a change.
I've been leaning towards the TDs from all that I've gathered.
Probably heading down to Death Valley in a couple months and have no great desire to have my dental work redone.
Thanks for the heads up.

Most of it is like any park here—paved, and relatively uninteresting as far as driving goes. But the "road" to the racetrack playa...

Don't skip the Alabama Hills, just west of the park. Really cool area, great camping.

Racetrack road is the worst. A bunch of us CSC folks from AZ ran it a few years ago. My 80 was never the same afterwards. Just couldn't find a good speed to smooth the ride out. It was horrible fast or slow. I'll never drive that road again.

Fyi only the rear tough dog shocks are adjustable. The front come in small (forget if it's 41 or 45mm) or big (53mm Ralphs), both are set rate.

Unless I've missed a product line update in which case, nothing to see here.

Powerwashed the undercarriage, cleaned & regreased ball joints, and did a lot of paint correction - wet sanding, compounding, polishing, and then finishing off with a ceramic coating on both the body and glass. More details in my thread Repainting Damaged Quarter Panel; Inout Needed!!

Huh. Not sure why I thought that, thanks for the heads up.

Edit: got confused in pictures somewhere, poor memory. Front shocks on the 200 look to be adjustable, but not the 100.

Oil change. Cleaned driver seat with Leatherique.

No more carfax alerts: airbag recall done and drove this purdy little thing like I stole it :steer:

Changed my right lower balljoint with a Three Five replacement. A torn boot did the OEM joint in and I found almost 1/4" of play in it moving the elevated tire around with a prybar. Sourced the replacement balljoint at my local Napa and used a loaner press kit from Autozone to remove/replace. Hit top flat of 555 joint with a quick coat of primer and black rustoleum after putting c-clip and boot on to prevent rusting.

i hate those stupid wash board trails just keep it natural instead of runining it so average camrys can run it.

I did a washboard at 45 the other day which i regret as i was getting an odd noise few days after in the front left tire area, but seems to have left.

Next time will air down to 15 and go slow. These E rated tires ain't helping either.

I regret to inform @nukegoat that I made the mistake of bringing home an '06 LX without nightview.

Better pics and videos and all kinds of nonsense to follow once I have some time in the day.
