Colleague at work took 6 weeks off at the last moment meaning I had to stay and work…. 😢😢
Is your cruiser road worthy again?

Nothing spectacular and I don't even have pictures but a week ago I took apart the rear hatch on the 2011 4Runner I just bought because the plastic piece that houses the license plate lights, hatch release button and key cylinder was not well attached. Discovered the last people in there (body repair folks) broke off a mounting tab and used the wrong size nut to try to hold onto a stud, which then caused the stud to break more stuff. Also, the rear window does not like to roll up and down. I used some JB Weld to attach/secure the things on the plastic piece that were moving and shouldn't. I sprayed a lot of brake parts cleaner into as many accessible places as I could find on the window regulator and then applied some lithium grease to slides, pulleys and cables. It still doesn't like to go up very much. Next on the list is to replace all the exterior window belt weatherstripping and shocks.

Our AC unit died yesterday afternoon. I ran to Lowe's before 10pm and replaced the old haggard 240V disconnect in the dark. That wasn't the problem. So I took some paid time off today to run down the problem with a multimeter. First thing I checked were the terminals on the compressor, because if that died I would have been royally ****ed. It tested good. I traced the problem to the bad capacitor that was manufactured in 2015. I replaced it with a new one from BP Supply and now my home is cool again. The unit runs a lot smoother and quieter now too. Replace your old capacitors.

Look closely and you can see an arc mark where something shorted to ground at some point in this unit's life, probably due to some shoddy wiring.

Yay winch! Boo caliper fubar
not sure whats going on with the passenger caliper, it was dragging the pads a little at low speeds making a noise but with new pads it stopped, still seems to make more dust on that side so even though its stopping fine im having a hard time trusting it. think this probably means its time to do the bigger tundra brakes like @alia176 did

Yesterday morning Jack accidentally overfilled the oil in the engine of his 4 runner. Instead of messing with it I had him drive the grocery getter ( the other LX) to school. He called right before he got to the city to tell me the battery light was on. I met him at Smith's grocery store at Tramway and Central where I swapped the alternator out with an Oreilley's special.

as usual, I get my projects done RIGHT before a major trip. This time my list was huge and I got it done!

- new radiator, Tstat, O rings, etc
- new ECU harness swap which means, remove the top half of the intake manifold
- pull out front diff for a "refresh" with new bearings and seals. Which meant pull out front birfs.
- while the intake manifold was out, I repalced the fuel filter and added a quick disconnect for fuel pressure checking using a gauge.
- removed the York air comp
-removed the turbo in the hopes of finding a slight exhaust leak
- delete all plumbing to the rear heater (rusted pipes and I'd rather have the space under the passenger seat)
-repair rear sway bar link mounts due to the bracket ripping themselves apart due to the HD rear sway bar.
-replace all vac hoses under the intake manifold

Man, you should have called me. I would have been happy to go over and watch you do all of that.

That mount looks bolt on. Why didn't you remove it to fix?

Take a closer look at the welds, just left of the vice grips that I did years ago when the captive nut got stripped.

Regardless, it's time for new HD everything back there. She drove great off-roading without the rear bar but on the hwy, it was a different matter.

I'd say you should have watched your back over there during that repair, but you don't need to worry about that for the next 28 days because we're all safe from guns in Albuquerque.

I am pretty sure I heard a gunshot west of where we were.
