Haven’t driven the 68 in a while. Decided to show it some love and check fluids. Oil and tranny fluid were fine. Coolant, brake fluid & gas have evaporated. No wonder the thing wouldn’t stop well at all…

Vehicles get jealous of one getting more attention than the other and act out. I know I'm anthropomorphizing, but sometimes I wonder. 🤔

What’s up everyone. I need to grease my LCA bushings on the 4th gen 4R. I have WhiteLine poly and they’re SQUEAKY!!!

I have grease and now finally the will. Do I just remove the alignment bolt, remove the sleeve, grease the crap out of the sleeve/inside of bushing and put it back in?

Is it necessary to grease between the bushing and LCA itself? Never done this before. Thanks!

I have to do this for my UCAs as they're also poly bushings, and I HATE poly bushings. You're spot on with the procedure. Make sure to mark the allignment tabs and their locations before taking everything apart. I've never done this while the struts are still attached to the LCAs but I don't see any safety issues other than supporting the vehicle properly. You have to grease both sides of the sleeves and also the bushings. In another words grease everywhere the poly touches metal! I assume the bushings are in two halves so they'll come out of the UCA holes easily?

I might also take the opportunity to install zerk fittings everywhere by drilling and tapping some fresh new holes. I'll do the same thing when I take my UCAs apart.

Nope, now I think about it they’re actually in a metal sleeve that I pressed in. In this case just lube between the inner sleeve/poly and the bolt when reinstalling?

Let's make this easy, simply give me a link to your items and let me study them so that I can respond appropriately!

Thanks!

Excellent, that's a great kit. Looks like you can push out the inner sleeves for lubrication, and that's all you need in this case.

This is my kit, and they're two piece bushings. Hopefully I greased them enough during install such that I don't have to revisit them for a long time to come.

Those make a bit more sense, I’m gonna try to tackle mine this weekend and see if it stops the noise.

Are you putting the Supra engine in this, or something else?
The Supra was bought with a dead 7MGTE. We were not sure if this obscure, 40-year-old engine would ever run again. The 2JZGTE was purchased as a plan B. Fortunately, enough quality replacement parts for the 7M were acquired and the machine work turned out great. The 7M is going back into the Supra. What to do with the 2JZGTE engine? Well, we happen to have a 60 Series Land Cruiser rolling chassis.
