I love these levers so much. I use them with Magura 4 piston calipers and theyre like the best brakes ive ever used on a bike. Like almost too much braking force
No kidding… any special barb or olive?

You use the Magura Caliper, hose, and barb; but use the Shimano Olive and compression nut. You can use either magura fluid or Shimano fluid, but its got to be mineral oil. Shimano fluid is better imo, and you bleed the brakes the same way youd bleed XTs

I was able to find take off MT5 brakes for dirt cheap on pinkbike and i used MT7 ceramic individual pads and its just so good. Each caliper has 4 pads in it, and its a little silly but they really work well. If you go with mt5 calipers youll need the pad pins but they are cheap. I did this back when the mt7 was still relatively new, by now there should be mt7s out there for pretty cheap as well.

Part of the reason it works so well is the ID of the magura hose is larger, so the XT levers can push more mineral oil.

Rear is a trail case and front is an enduro. Both went on with no fuss. Didn't even need a tire lever. I have heard the DH casing can be pretty hard.
that's good to know. I had written them off entirely after mounting some DH casing kryptotals for my neighbor... i've been doing tubless for damn near 20 years now and that was by far and above the worst mounting experience i've ever had. 100% do not recommend. doesn't matter how good that tire is, DH casing ain't worth the headache.

That said... i am on the fence for a set of tires for the tallboy. The forekasters aren't cutting it on the decomposing granite here in phx. Will likely end up with more ground controls but I'd still like to consider more options.

Going to swap the Nobl TR32 wheelset over from the neuhaus over to the tall boy to see how it feels. Wheels have GC 2.35 T7's so we'll see how i like those vs the forekaster.

I am hoping the ARC30 wheels from the tallboy feel a little more compliant on the neuhaus.

Update: Hub standards are frustrating and it seems DT swiss is now in the nonsensical camp. DT350 freehub body is not compatible with DT370 Ratchet LN body. The ratchets themselves are, at least. I'll need to buy two drivers to make the swap work. I ain't gonna do that yet.

I feel like this conti's had a bit more grip then new minion's. But, I've only put 20 miles on them. So hard to up sale them to much yet. Some of those specialized tires have been pretty reliable. And usually not to much $$. I think I was running some butchers(maybe wrong name) on my knolly.
Im going to watch for some deals on tires... probably going to end up with another set of ground controls. they just do so well out here in phoenix for the xc / trail stuff.

Mechanical GX Eagle is dumb. And NX is even dumber.

Do this and then it will suck much less:

This adds a bushing to the system so it's no longer metal on metal.

And if you want to go even further... add this:

Now my mushy GX feels like mushy XO1
