Wow, I wonder if the squeeze has "grown" over the years with more and more rigs going out there?

Last time I was there was in 2008 I think, I had a 4runner and my buddy was in his 80. He got 3" indentations down the length of his truck on both sides! Of course, he didn't care much luckily. Either way, I would have bet money on it that an 80 would never fit without body damage.

Maybe you're just a better driver hah. But that is cool you only got through with minimal damage! Great.

From 2008 (?)

I was told an 80 with flares was too wide?? The down hill after squeeze looks fun. Did you take the lefty or right line on the down hill?

I wrote the check to my mechanic. Back brakes are still good for an additional 20-25K miles. Replaced both front rotors, both calipers, the pads, inner and outer brake hoses, repack wheel bearings. After the head gasket rebuild last month, I hope I'm done for a while. I'm probably going to need new tires this year.

You've got to stop writing retirement checks to these guys :-) Sounds like you've got things together now! Looking forward to camping & wheeling soon!

Moved the 80 off the driveway and onto the street.

Moved our Saturn SL2 onto the driveway. Replaced the valve body - such an easy job with the pan access above the transmission and in the engine bay.

Drove the Saturn around for 30 - 40 minutes as it learned about the new valve body - nice and smooth again.

Moved the 80 back onto the driveway and called it good for the w/end.

This w/end will move the 80 off the driveway and onto the street.

Move the jeep onto the driveway and replace front/rear shoes/pads.

Move the 80 back onto the driveway.

The whole point is NOT to have needed to do any work on the 80 and just drive it around instead :)

cheers,
george.

Not sure "fun" is the right word for it. Ha! Has a fitting name "Heart Attack Hill". Nah but it was pretty fun I guess :). We took the left side down. I went back there a few years ago (we were running it backwards) and thought we'd try to go up it. I chickened out, and so did my buddy.

Finished up the shells for the 80 rears. Flared and non-flared.

Swing arms are fully removable, no spindle stubs when arms are removed.

I need to make some adjustments to the flared version, but its almost complete.

Thanks all,

Jason

I rebuilt my starter. It actually still worked, but on really cold mornings, the contacts wouldnt quite get it done, and I'd have to cycle the key several times. I picked up the contacts, plunger, and replacement screws here locally (Texas Alternator and Starter) for a total of 13.00. Great service. It is totally a one banana job, I didnt even have any trouble getting it off or reinstalling it. Well designed placement and product. I intended to do a tutorial on it, even have the camera set up on the tri pod, but my Son took ill, and I just didn't have the time.

This video shows the inside of the "solenoid"

This is the outside of the solenoid,

the actual starter motor casing. My brushes were basically brand new. Not bad for 254,000 miles

lots of grease in the gear unit, I cleaned it up a little, but everything looks great inside.

i can watch the tutorial, mine is on my list!

Did new power steering pump from Yota, switched out the gear from the old one, took bout 1 hr 20 min for whole job. I did not pull the battery used long extension and air gun to zip off the high pressure line

Installed new LED headlights. I have not been able to drive at night yet to test them (truck has been apart getting line-x) but in the pics you can see the difference between the OEM and the new LED.

I ordered the same ones, and they were sitting on the front steps when I got home last night. Got them put in about 1:30 AM and I was beat, so no pics.. They are certainly brighter than the OEMs... I think you will like them.

This is awesome. Exactly what I have been waiting for! I mean, that's not shocking since I have been hounding you to make one like this for about a year! :)

Can't wait!
