How's the methanol set up coming along? Love the 4 gallon reservoir
It has taken me forever to make time to finish it up, but I have had it working for two days and now I'ts laid up waiting on wheel bearings. I'm going on a trek to Michigan's U.P. in two day's, pulling a trailer with gear for snowmobile camp, then a few days of wheeling, so I hope to get some dial in time finally. Thanks for your build thread!

Bought a long-term project. Non-daily driver 95 Locked.

Removed the rain gutter trim, removed running boards, removed 3rd row seating and seat belts, and 2nd row seat behind driver. Purchased a scan gauge and am currently debating install locations. (Need to get rid of the P0401 CEL)

Tomorrow is oil, diff, and antifreeze drain and replacement.

What's the advantage of removing the rain gutter trim?

Finally got a fuse box installed.

Got em Dirrrrttty!!!

@Dr Gil showed up with new OEM oxygen sensors he wanted to change out to start attacking a random P0401. I offered to just check the ohm value but he was sure that wanted the piece of mind of getting them replaced regardless due to age. He actually came by because he rounded out one of the nuts trying to get it off. Gave up before it became a problem.

I had plenty of tools to work around it so issues there. Tested the resistance value of both old and new sensors. All four sensors were 13ohms. Oh well, he's got spares now.

Then he wanted to get belt tension checked because his belt(s) have been squeaking. Using my new little Gates Krikit tension guide I got about 40# on the alt belts which were just at the low side. But then I checked the AC belt, it was like a trampoline. Totally loose. So loose it wouldn't register.

The problem here is whoever tightened the AC idler pulley decided to use the crank pulley bolt spec of 307# to torque down the idler lock nut. I didn't want to risk snapping it right before he was about to leave for a long off roading trip. So that belt will stay loose for now.

I am shocked that little bolt could even withstand getting torqued past 300 :)

Welded up a big solid steel work bench with a 3/8" × 6' x 3' plate counter top. Now that I have a bench strong enough to handle the weight of a transmission, I was able to get started on the NV4500 teardown. Rebuilding it with a mainshaft cut and resplined to mate with the HF2AV.

That work wasn't done at Big 0 Tires on L street in Sacramento, was it?

No, I'm not bitter at all.

I pulled a Chebby Tahoe out of the sand, he was stuck up to the axles. That was fun.

Really ? That picture could be you drinking a beer taking selfies next to your 80. I don't see any Tahoe. In comparison I have a very similar one of me pulling out 7 Jeep Wranglers at once, all Rubicon editions. Below is my photographic proof, they are just off the camera to the right in this picture. ;)

What's the advantage of removing the rain gutter trim?

For me it was 2 fold:

1. As Landcruiser80 said, "It looks better." Especially since mine was chipped and dented.
2. They trap dirt and gunk that you won't see or be able to remove until you take them off.

Witness the trap that is rain gutter trim!
