Started knuckle rebuild and pulled the bumper to start mocking up bumper build.

Needless to say it as in desperate need of a rebuild.

Got all the parts laid out and cleaned this weekend. Unfortunately found out that there has been some play in the wheel bearings and need a new spindle.

Packed wheel bearings in front axle and finished the cut out on my stock bumper for my winch fairlead.testing all the work out this upcoming weekend at Durhamtown Tellico aug. 8th 20150802_180146.jpg

Went camping and tested out the new lid that my brother in law helped me weld up for the m416 recently. Still need to add a hitch receiver to the back so that we can put a bike carrier on the rear of the trailer instead of strapping the bikes to the tent. Also need to put some gas struts in the tub to help lift that lid. It is one heavy piece. Some paint is in the near future as well. Overall it worked out nicely.

Started a rear console mod for my kids using the cupholders from BH3D Printing. Was thinking to paint it gray, daughter says blue with flames!

Getting ready to order new U joints. But had a thought. I'm not completely convinced that it's the U joints. Can I disconnect the front drive shaft and drive it without to see if it is that before ordering new ones? I know the OEM U joints are pretty damn indestructible so would rather not just throw money at the problem. (Problem being vibration under load. The vibration virtually goes away when I left off the gas on the highway.)

Yup, as long you have the CDL switch so you can lock the center diff you can roll in 2WD

Lock your center diff and you can do that. Otherwise it's a no go. That's what I did and it was definitely a front u joint issue. Changed it out and noise went away.

'92 FJ80 should have the CDL from factory, so remove front drive shaft, lock center diff, and drive around in RWD mode to test your theory.

Cool. Thanks. Think I'm going to do that tonight. I'm pretty certain but don't want to through $$ at a problem.

Coming up the hill from Porto... Ahhh memory's :)

Going to do this in a few. Just to be clear, I want to remove the front drive shaft THEN lock the CDL. Or do I lock the CDL BEFORE removing the front drive shaft?

I'm not sure it matters. You just won't go anywhere without the CDL engaged.
